just thought i would say hi. i was on here a long time ago and just got back on. i run mostly bobcats here in PA. had a good season so far. had 4 kills and saw 4 others.
no snow right now and the kill season is winding down. hope to get another one dead before its over. i'm running my old little beagle hound cross and finally got a yound dog thats coming on nice. she is a full treeing walker out of Nelson Coles stuff. what a nice dog. handles great has yet to trash out and is starting to cold trail ahead of my old dog although she won't take near as old of track. (which doesn't bother me as he will open on a 2 day old track in the snow)
i'll add pics as soon as i figure it out. God bless.

I hunt western Montana. I am tagging along with a guy from Colorado tomorrow. I have a buddy in Pa thats hunts bobcats with dogs. He lost his good dog and has been struggling to find a replacement. He has some that are coming along pretty good but there still young. I heard that hunting in the east is a totally different. I would like to bring one of my dogs back there and see how he does on bobers in Pa. Did you weigh those cats?
send me a pm with your buddys name. maybe i know him.
the cats we got this year were: 34.5 tom
16.5 tom
17 tom
32 tom
kinda nice that they were all toms. won't hurt the population none.
as far as hunting in the east being different i couldn't tell you as its the only place i hunt but i can tell you them buggars don't like to go up very often. only one of those 4 came out of a tree this year.
i think this walker will start putting them to wood when so gets a little more experiance though. i hope any way. kinda betting the farm on her right now as my old dog is 10 or 11. i went through a bunch of them to get something with potental thats for sure.
Great pics bobcat! I'm glad to hear that your hound from nelson is doing good. I was on the list for one but i had to back out due to working on the road all last year. Visit my site: http://newyorkpredatorandhound.com
nice site. what part of ny are you in. lots of nihce snow in them pics. sure wish i had a little of that! you got alot of bob pics. they all killed with hounds?
bobcat,
That's great, where in PA do you run? I go to the Reading area to hunt deer during the rut, and am amazed at the amount of deer. Must be something to be able to break dogs off deer there in PA. Very nice pics and have fun with that walker.
i'm way north of reading there are spots that have alot of deer but they are really thinning them down with this herd reduction thing. makes running much easier.
Just curious, what are your thoughts on lion there in PA? My friends there are convinced that the Game Commission is releasing lions to feed on the deer, so I tease them when I can about it.
i'm in an area where they "see" lions all summer and fall. funny it seems to be in alot of the places that i rrun bobcats. but anyway they all must go south for the winter because they don't leave any tracks in the snow. my buddy has been running cats here for over 30 years and has never seen a lion track. so unless they fly, they aren't here.
I had a buddy from there that I thought to be a very honest guy and he swears he treed a black one when he was 16 with some mixed up farm dogs. I know two other people that I would consider very honest and they said they saw a black one while spotlighting a field. Both of these sightings were in the Meadville area but about ten years apart. Bobcat my question is this. Would you turn loose on a big lion track if you did find one?
