Hey Treesadie, why dont you give me your address so I can come show you how to kill that big cat in your backyard. Next time you decide to call someone you don't know or have never spoken to for that matter an arrogant prick on a public forum you should think twice. It is really to bad houndsmen like yourself are jelous of anyone with good dogs, you give the sport a bad name. Good luck to you this season. Paul Laney

Treesadie, before you call someone a arrogant prick you may want to get to know them first, I have no idea who you are but I don't appreciate being called names, I am sorry I have good dogs and catch a bunch of cats, houndsmen sure are a jelous bunch.

If I wanted kill the cat in my backyard, I would just open up a window and blast it off a baitpile. No, I dont give houndsman or the sport a bad name, that would be you, killin 10 lb kittens, just to satisfy your clients. Those stories you write about yourself and then have your buddy print in all the papers are bullshit so you can sell a hunt. If it wasnt for you running behind you dogs and finding all thier losses, you wouldn't catch a hot biscuit. You are right, u dont know who I am, but u had your chance to meet me bout 8 years ago when I invited you down to my backyard to catch a big cat that I knew about. No, instead, you came down later on and killed it once I told you where I lived. So yea, I think you are an arrogant prick. Good day. PS. And no, I don't still live there.

I can't get any respect. Treesadie I am the one that killed the cat in your back yard. You told my brother about it not Paul. We killed cats there before it was your back yard, when it was your back yard, and we still kill cats there. I was down there with Paul's father A week after you talked to my brother that cat crosed the road several miles from your house where we put on it. Paul was 20 miles away on another cat with a client. I was only 10 min ahead of Nelson that morning. Mater of fact he wanted to by the track from me. I wish I had sold it . That cat stove the crap out of A nance breed walker female of mine that died 5 days later from Cat scratch fever. You know something that cat had no name tag on it anywhere

Had a great run last monday up north. ran every day with a few buddies. Here's a nice cat I harvested. 30.5lbs he ran for about 15 minutes before the dogs had him bayed up. Got some great footage of the cat! One week left and then its on to the bunnies and yotes!

Don't sorry me, I don't care how many cats you kill there. I don't live there anymore. I was just a new
houndhunter at the time looking for some help and all I got was crapped on by an arrogant prick and no
more cat track to walk my dog on. Doesn't matter now, she is gone, but you're still a bs'ing, lying,
kitten killer. You sure it was 30 and not 3?

So are u Dave or Dale? You are right, it didn't have anyones name on it. Not the point. Point is I was
asking for help, didn't even care who ended up with the cat. Nope, sorry, too bad, u lose. He calls himself
a houndsman. Roflmfao. Good day.

By the way catslayer NH, Beautiful cat.

Is bobcat hunting in Maine really this cut throat? Just spoke to a friend of mine on Monday about running in Maine but if that is how things go up there I don't want in.

doesnt matter where you go to hunt whether its pennsylvania ,maine . newhampshire .etc.. there are certain individuals who think their initials are carved into the game animals . i always end a conversation when someone starts talking about game like they own them .go about your buisness if you arent breaking any laws . it is unfair to categorize maine as being cutthroat .im sure i could come to pennsylvania and have to different exsperiences depending on who i ran into.its just the way it is in the world.

Hound hunting is like that everywhere in the world. It is a very personal and possessive sport and everybody wants it for themselves to a degree. Some make it more obvious than others.

Didn't want to press any buttons about Maine in general I just don't want to end up in the middle of something. I know for a fact that one of the folks in this discussion hunts the area I was looking into. We do have some of the same attitude hear but when you show up as a non-resident it adds to it.

"Hound hunting is like that everywhere in the world." I agree with you on that Cobalt. I have never been a cat hunter but have seen the same thing with bears, coonhunting spots, and even coyotes.
A few years ago I was in upstate NY hunting coyotes with some friends that live there. I actually saw a roadside shoving match over a coyote track between 2 groups of hunters !! The arguement was pretty interesting really. The guys I was with had cut the track and initialed it in the snow, same way some of the cathunters in Maine still do I think. We then rode around for a while looking to see if the track had come out of the piece of woods or if we could find a better track. After an hour of no fresher track being found, it was back to try the old one they had marked. The other group had come along, waited half an hour and then decided to run it.Thats when the festivities got started .LOL We had done the same thing the day before but found fresher tracks in another piece of woods and ran those tracks. Never went back to the initialed tracks.I wondered if anyone had gone by those initialed tracks and didnt run them figuring the first finder was coming back ?? To me , the only true way to claim a track is to have someone stand and wait on it . Guys might not take the time to go back and erase initials off a track but they would probably come back to pickup their friend !!

Heck....even rabbit huntin is like that.I've had cat hunters tell me "this is my huntin ground" before.I asked 1 feller to show me his property tax bill, and we could take it from there.

Nice to see all these Maine cathunters on here.My hat is off to anybody that has the drive to hunt when the snow is crotch deep to a bull moose.

I have to say, I have been hunting bobcats with hounds in Maine my whole life and have never had a bad experience. I have helped other outfitters and they have helped me as well as other bobcat hunters. Of course you will get those who are just plain jelous of anyone with a good dog and hunts hard.. Those guy will bad mouth you because you do good, but pay no attention to that non sense . Just go chase cats with you dogs and do your thing. There are many new cat hunters to the sport in Maine the past few years as the bobcat population has exploded in southern and centeral maine. I am sure the increase in new hunters has caused a few problems in the more populated areas. It only takes a couple bad apples to give us all a bad name. Bobcat hunting in Maine with hounds is a sport that has has gone on for many years and has a great history and thousands of great stories. Lets keep the tradition going in a positive direction.

i guess pedro has made a full recovery from his last ordeal with the bobcat ,because he got loose and took him self hunting behind scotts house while scott was at work .gary scotts uncle who lives down the road was shoveling off his roof when he heard this dog trail right past through a little deer yard he said to himself that sounds alot like pedro ,but he kept shoveling ,and a little while later he heard this hound screaming coming towards his house on the main road . pedro and a coyote went flying by a neighbor up the road was outside and saw the dog and coyote so he ran inside and grabbed his 22 by the time he got back out there they went back in the woods . then out came pedro and the coyote screaming down the road with pedro snapping at his tail just down the road pedro tackled him and had him pinned to the ground the neighbor finished the coyote off with his 22.pedro is an open mouth trail dog so that tells you the speed he has . the animals know he "s coming . anyone with quality females looking to breed to a treeing walker that has it all should contact scott strout in harrington maine 207-598-5666 before something happens to this hound.
