I agree most trained hounds that get sold probably stop moving forward from that point on. Big n blue I'll sell you my best hound if you want to come pick it up. let me know if you rather have a male or female and we'll deal
deer and elk eat a different diet when its available by choice then do cows. so my cows grazing the state land have little impact on the wildlife. and like you say we should have a say in what we spend our money on. I'd rather have someone paying to keep fences up roads usable and water in the tanks etc. then see the grasses refused by the deer and elk build up to the point the next fire that comes through is hot enough to sterilize the soil. or we could hire thousand of more forestry officials to set around and discuss what might be done after the fact. however the right of a individual to set his own prices is just that. and i doubt anyone on here is so good hearted as to sell me their house or truck etc at a third of market value.
anyway its not something I will ever understand or agree with the whole socialistic system is only designed to promote laziness and profit for a very very small percentage of the top gov officials. I'd just as soon get paid for what I do and not have to split it with people I don't know who may or may not be providing their equal split. socialism societies are well known for everyone being unable to afford any more then the basics.

Woe seabiscuit, you fellas want to go easy on how much it cost to by dogs much rather raise and train them.My old lady might start reading these posts.My death will be all your fault.lol As far as selling hounds dont believe in it.If someone makes it hunting with me they must have good ethics.In that case I will give them a good dog.I started running hounds for the fun of it and thats the way i will stop,Ha Ha i wont stop.

there's that by choice thing there that means in the winter when that poorly managed state land isn't meeting their feed requirements or hunting season when everyone is running them off the gov. land onto private they turn to eating those feeds you spent the year growing and harvesting or bought to get your livestock through the winter. it doesn't take a herd of deer or elk long to run through thousands of dollars worth of feed. they usually only eat from up higher and pull it down onto the ground to trample it in the mud and piss on it, so whats left is useless. or they come into other crops like fruit trees winter wheat etc and can kill or severely damage a good sized orchard in just a few nights leaving you facing bankruptcy.
my point is there isn't anything that doesn't get abused occasionally. But wild life do and have always had a huge impact on agriculture. it's that uncontrolled aspect that causes the problems. even native feeds do best when grazing is timed and controlled to be most beneficial.
remember in a truly "natural" environment the game animals go through cyclic population surges and falls along with the available forage and the predators follow. today everyone wants a idyllic world of plenty and they want as many elk,deer antelope,buffalo,moose,mtn. lions,bears etc as the land can possibly support so long as it doesn't affect them in any negative way. if wildlife got so numerous in your area they interfered regularly with you income you would complain.
if your hamburger started to cost $12 or your steak tripled in price you'd want to know why your being ripped off. well it's so those people growing your food or raising beef can make ends meet. even through the extra cost of raising feed for your wildlife and supporting them through the winters.

Pegleg, you should know as well as i do if you don't have a dog that will start a track in this dry county you will never get a pup going!!! We have too many kids that would rather stay home and play video games then go on a 20 mile trail ride with a bunch of pups that don't know what there chaising! If i had to do it all again, i would save my money and buy a made dog.

i have never understood pricing on hounds myself. i can price a finished dog at 1500 and it won't last a week. i price a young dog thats been under 15 to 30 bears for 300 and guys won't touch it outside my area i live. i'm sorry but i don't care how good a dog is aint one out there worth over 2 grand. jmo.

I didn't buy any dogs from Sam. All i have are young nance bred dogs and one young female out of Sam's blood that i got when she was six weeks old. If i had the money i would try to get Sam to sell me a made dog though. It takes a hell of a dog and alot of mule tracks to catch lions with any consistency when its this dry.
