Surgery be done anytime after 8 weeks old unless you want to wait and see if the other one herniates and get them both done at once.

It is hereditary. The breeder should be notified.

I talked to Del, Steve, Jim and a few of the other big breeders yesterday and they say cherry eye happens all the time in the Cameron Dogs, its easy to fix, they say now one really cares about it . They just deal with the problem being they are Cameron.

Being hereditary they said it happens every so often, doesnt stop anyone from breeding a female.

Also 2 local vets said it is not hereditary it just happens in some due to breeding a shorter nose into the dogs.

Not trying to start anything here but read what you wrote and see if you see what I see? The 3 main breeder of the line told you that it happens all the time with the Cameron line. Two vets tell you it isn't hereditary? think I would find a new vet.I'm with Cobalt on this one if it happens in the line it is hereditary 2 + 2 = 4 all day long

I personally don't think that it is a huge deal. It'll only cost you $3-500 per eye and does not effect hunt quality. It's just like cryptorchid (one nut not dropping) or overbite, they both run thickly in that line and for whatever reason those guys (Del, Steve and Jim) think a certain amount of that is ok, but don't try to breed it out of the dogs or stop breeding dogs with those problems (wonder why).
I think the dog should be neutered for the benefit of the breed and I mean the whole bluetick breed, because like all traits, they can and will spread.

Turns out she had something stuck in her eye which swelled up. A little antibiotic the said and she will be fine.

Thank god its not cherry eye
