Dog leaves the tree

Wanting some thoughts about one of my buddys dogs. This dog is a female treeing walker, 1/4 running dog, year and half old, mother is an excellent bobcat dog and has proven dogs on the ground. Pup was an eary starter last year, running track with the hounds at 6 months old. She can cold trail and move a jumped bobcat track like very few dogs I've seen. Problem is, when the cat is caught or treed she leaves the tree and runs back to the truck or goes looking for more track to run, like she KNOWS its up.
Havent had the oportunity to try work with her on a tree or tie her at the tree with the tree dogs because by the time we get there shes normaly already gone and trouble getting her back.
She's not interested in any caged critters, not much gritt yet, so thats kind of out of the question for now.
What whould you do? any advice? seen this type of thing before? Thanx

Lead her into a treed cat, do your work there. Shoot it, let her see it, tie a rope around it and try to get her to tree on it? Just an idea.

To me she is doing great, you just have a training problem to over come. Do you have a GPS on her? Tone train her. Tone and shock her when she leaves the tree. Then work her at the tree with the dead cat. With the right timing it can be over come. Dewey

Try to catch her and tie her up where ever she is as long as she can hear the other dogs at the tree. Don't take her to the tree just make sure she can hear!!!!! If she's not close enough when u catch her then take her close enough to hear. Go to the tree and take care of business!!! Look for the cat and shoot it out if its a harvestable cat. She should be barking while all this is going on. Pay her no attention at all and after u are finished leash all other dogs and get her on the way out. It may take a few trees but she should start wanting to be over there. I learned this method from an old houndsmen and it worked after only 3 trees for my hound. It works best if she can hear everything going on but can't see. Expesially if its shot out and she can hear a little tussle!!!! Its worth a try you never know!!!

Sounds to me like this dog likes trailing and chasing game but has no interest in actually catching it.If she doesn't care about game in a cage right in front of her nose then why would she care about game way up a tree ?

I'm with Trueblue, I don't know if this problem will be correctable or not. Without that drive to want to chew on something, this might be a tough fix. I'll be interested to see if she comes around.

Treed one again today, got this dog back to the tree with the tree dog and knocked it out.....see what happens next time.

Dewey, I failed to mention she leaves bayups as well, this year and last. In your opinion is she still doing well? A leaving, quitting thing that has seemed to get progressively worse. Have you seen time fix this sort of thing?
There's another gun shy issue with her that might have played a role in her leaving, maybe, but probably not. I've had gun shy hounds that over came that fear because they cared more for the catch.
At any rate she will get her time if that's what she needs...

BlazeNBrat this is a very valuable bit of information you have failed to mention!!!!! I've been paying close attention to this thread because I was rootin for this female to figure this out. But in light of this new information I've personally lost all hope!!!!!! I've seen this very thing on only very few dogs and having said that I've not seen any of them ever make useful hounds.

It is possible it is getting ran off the tree by other dogs, if not it sounds like she may be a waste of time.

Usually the best thing that can happen to a young dog is being on one caught on the ground. If she is leaving that before the cat is dead , not good. Sometimes one has to cut your losses and move on. Dewey
