Glad someone actually read the post. Believe me I wish I had the time to hunt them instead of working was just looking for some info

I can't recommend a bobcat pen. The concept has been tried but does not work well except to get dogs thinking about bobcats. The cats learn to tree quickly. A gray fox pen would be much better for working the dogs but I don't know of one. I think It would be really hard to hire a trainer because it is so expensive to hunt bobcats in most areas that the fees would be prohibitive for you. I wish I had a solution for you. Myself, I have a real hard time owning a dog if I can't hunt it. It is usually not long before I find a situation more deserving of the dog. I've been in your situation so I wish I could help. Good luck.

If you are only going to be gone a month, one month sitting in the pen or one month hunting them is not going to break em or make em.

You get that young dog, that is really making progress, in the hands of someone that don't know what they're doing and all your hard work just gets set back about 3 months. Someone that sees that you have good dogs then they decide to try and train their dogs with yours.
I'd rather my dogs have to sit in a pen for a month than let someone I don't know anything about hunt them. Just my opinion.

I agree with south Texan and Al.
wont anybody hunt the dogs the same way you do, so when you get back things will be different, might be better but might be a disaster. After sitting up a month that pup will probably want it that much more!

Yea I guess that is true thanks for the insight I see just see a lot of people doing it with bear dogs around my parts and thought maybe someone good and expierenced may do it for bobcat but like y'all say they are pretty attached to me and may not respond much to someone else in just a month
