Update for Oregon Hound hunters.
ODFW has abandoned it's efforts to eliminate the use of a live raccoon under Division 44 for use in our field trials, both for use and in transit too and from such an event. Thanks to all those who sent emails of objection and voiced their opinion in written testimony! I know some feel we should abandon such use and it's only a matter of time before we lose the fight....
My position? This happens to be our god given right and our hound hunting heritage and we demand equal considerations where these rights are concerned! We should never exploit what we do openly on the internet, that said? It's what we do and who we are and if you attack our group? You better look at all other forms of hunting straight across the board!
ODFW concurred!
ODFW also has abandoned it's endeavors at taking any of our bobcat hunting away from us in terms of reduced bag limits or reductions related to our training season or harvest season for all fur bearing mammals in Oregon. We didn't gain nothing, but more importantly? We didn't lose nothing!
Please join me in thinking about our actions out in the field and know we are a minority user group and therefore the most vulnerable!

Re: Oregon Bobcat Proposals
Job well done Mike. You are doing a very good job for your fellow hunters in your state and the young hunters that can't even vote to protect their rights. I like how you timed the info you used to protect your rights that was a smart move. I know you have people giving you support most of which you have drummed up, but you are the main push as well. I knew you had the info and were waiting to use it at an appropriate time from your prior posts on other topics, but the timing rocked them and put them in defense mode vs. offense. Do you think you can gain anything back or just protect what little they haven't taken away. Either way you make fellow houndsmen proud.
Keep up the good fight.

Re: Oregon Bobcat Proposals
Thanks Ed!
Having the facts in hand empowers our cause. They don't like it one bit! The bigger picture for me is getting the 700,000 verified ballot signatures out of the garbage, this is to amend the constitution for the right to hunt fish and trap...Think about that statement pertaining to our god given rights! We shouldn't have to amend jack squat!
Without this bill going before the voters in Oregon, nothing else makes sense, it does little good to get a house bill passed, for instance, the County by County cougar bill that would easily pass in rural Oregon but would ultimately lead to the total ban of all hound hunting by the majority of liberals that outnumber us hands down in Oregon because it would also be misconstrued and spun. Who are the spinmeisters? ODFW. I would have never believed ODFW would partner with the HSUS and Audubon Society when both want ALL hunting eliminated, just goes to show ODFW has been infiltrated by anti hunting liberals!
83% of people polled approve of hound hunting, we just need to pass this by the will of the people and the same majority in the legislature that voted in favor of the Federal Government black bear snare slaughter, cub burial program are opposed to our bear hounds, the same politicians that approve of Government hounds and the cougar landfill plan are the same politicians opposed to sport hound hunting for cougar.
I maintain they have been spoon fed b.s. propaganda from ODFW over a long period of time and now their time has come for a wake up call! They have a voting record that verifies just how misinformed they are where our hounds are concerned....That's going to change in the upcoming legislative session, one damn way or another! You see? They can't have it both ways! It's just that simple!
When you live in a glass house, you don't throw rocks!
