trigg
Re: trigg
Don't have any pics of full Triggs. Dog on the right is 1/2 Trigg, 1/2 running walker but shows mostly Trigg. Dog in center is out of him so he's 1/4 Trigg, 3/4 walker and still pretty much shows Trigg color. That color is pretty dominant. That's the closest I can show you.

Re: trigg
do you have any problems getting the triggs and running dogs to tree . mine usely dont start treeing good untill they are around 2 .I have a 1 1/2 year old female that is cold tracking great good speed but she just wont tree on cats . trees a little on coons but i hate coons.in this country a cold coon track can take you pretty deep.its worth it for a cat but not a stinky old coon.

Re: trigg
coastalrangecathunter,
Here in the Southeastern Piney woods we have a hard time getting our Running Walker hounds to tree up big trees. Dad starts his puppies out in Western OK where most trees are small and all will generally tree. Sometimes a cat will tree in a tall Cottonwood but in Winter with no leaves, and some times when leaves are on the Dogs will tree. This must be sight treeing as when we bring them back to AR anf FL NO more treeing (unless he is in a small tree or in some Honeysuckle down low).
We have been trying to find a GreyFox / Catdog that trees in GA. and the Carolinas. They are out there but the people that have them want to keep em!
Sometimes if you are treeing lots of Cat, which we don't, a Hound will go to treeing when he or she get to be 4yrs or so. Don't know why unless they are just getting smarter. We have not had one of these latetly!
Good Luck and Good Running to All!!!!

Re: trigg
why are we tryng to reinvent the wheel if you have dogs that are tree dogs why would you want to take running dogs and make them tree dogs. or cross them ?
if you want dogs that tree stay with them.
if you want running dogs go theres, good stock on both sides

Mr. Butch
Unfortunatly very few Tree bred dogs can handle our Big, Bad, Wet country that the Short tails like!
Over the years Dad has found a few that could hang for the multi-hour races that we have here and across the Southern Piney Woods.
I know I am going to hear from folks that are going to say "you should try my stock of dogs they will work". Well over the past 50 years Dad has tried most of the Treedog breeds out there. In the 90's he found a Treeing Walker that had been running Grey Fox in GA and he could hang and locate a tree if the Cat climbed, another hound was a Blue cross that would stay generally. However he could not keep after 3 hrs. We don't have many that run that long and those usualy do not tree but some will!
I know I am going to hear from my Carolina friends that with their dogs a Cat won't last that long. Well, we run 12 Hounds at the most not 35 and our country is as bad as theirs, just lots bigger.
Also as most of you Cat hunters know a Bobcat goes up a tree different from a Coon or Bear. A hound has to wind him up the tree to locate him!
Bottom line is until you have run a mile in the other felllows Boots or Country it is hard to tell em how to play!
Running Walkers can and do tree, it depends of the individual and if the hunter is treeing enough gameto keep it on the hounds mind.
Good Hunting!

Re: trigg
KMIZELL,
Sure good to hear from you. Glad you have had some good running!
Had hoped to have Poon & Lump here this spring to Sample some of Poon's "Black Power" however Dads Chemo has put that off a while.
You all had one of the best Bobcat hunters and Catdog trainers in the country back your way in Mr. Lewis Jordan. It was great to hear that he had not gone to the "Big Hunt across the river yet".
We will call and talk hunting sometime soon!
