Men and cooking?

Post by Powder River Walker »

 I know that there are alot of great cooks out there that are men, some of the best in the world. And I know that cooking in hunt 'n camp is good to along with grilling. I am talking around the house on a normal weekday or weekend (single guys don't count unless you do it for fun) I cook and I try and do my share of it but today my wife I had to "build" a cake. Now I use turms like build, and weld the two cakes together a cool whip frosting, just so my wife knows I am still batting for her team. Are there any other guys out there that are like me or am i sailing this one solo on the whole cooking thing.

I'll cook anything and as often as I can; as long as it's red meat on a grill :D

Hell i cook alot around here. My company has me cook for them also now. I thought i was smart and bring in some lunch one day and from that day on i have cook for them atleast once a week. But at home i do alot of cooking and even making my own alfredo sauce from scratch.Another good is that i came yup with is take bell peppers and clean them out and take some steak and cut in small peices put in bowl and mix onion and refried beans and cheese in a bowl then stuff the bell pepper with that mix and then more cheese on top and brush with olive oil and bake for about 1.5 hours on 325 or until bell pepper is tender.Next i will try with hame and eggs and cheese inside of bell peppers. My mom ask where the hell did you come up with that she said it was good. I am 34 and cook all the time.Take a pork butt and smoke on oak for 4-5 hours then once done get a pot of beer boiling and then drop the roast in and once the meat has schredded mix in bbq sauce in liquid you might have to add water also. and there is some good pulled pork sandwhiches.
Just a couple some you might enjoy also.

PRW,

I am a food fanatic, cook and baker. I was lucky to have come from parents that are both outstanding cooks. My dad is the master of the grill and my mom always made outstanding home classics. I have raised 3 boys and all of them know how to cook and enjoy it. Some of my favorite celebrity chefs are men. I love Bobby Flay. He can cook anything on the grill and I think would make the best camp cook ever.  Tyler Florence is another favorite. In fact some of the best chefs are men. Be proud to have an interest and a skill. :)

As relates to the CAMP COOK: Having been a CERTIFIED CAMP COOK  for 40+ years I am tired of all the WHINING. If you come up to our camp PLEASE HEED THE RULES.

The camp cook is NEVER WRONG.
My primary concern is your stomach's contentment
My kitchen facilities have passed ALL Health Inspections ,last done 1966
SPECIAL REQUESTS may be considered if appropriate gifts have been given.
Do not be concerned of Special ingredients I may have Added.
I serve the very BEST of the discounted food.
All Butter , Grease , Lard, is the finest available
Something NOT Done enough for you ? No problem it will when I give it back to you
Being Enviormentally Sensitive No waste here You don't eat it ,it will end up in the soup pot

Don't like the Rules better bring a good supply of TWINKIES

End of week the hounds get all the left-overs
Haven't heard any complaints from them :?

my wife and I both cook around the house, sometimes she prepares the whole meal, sometimes I do, sometimes we have "iron chef battles" and we both try and out do each other but that is only in the spirit of competition. My parents raised us so that everyone of us did not have to depend on someone else for surivival, now I can not sew and my sister can not weld but for the most part we are all independent.

Okay boys, let's see some of your recipes on here. :) I love trying new ones..... I especially would like new and interesting ones for elk, moose, and deer. I was just looking at some elk hunting photos and got a big craving for a nice elk steak. :) Think I will have to have my boys get an elk tag this fall for sure!!!!

Apparently! I havent cooked anything in OVER 4 years, and well pretty much my entire life. I do not cook, can't cook, and don't want to cook. My other half is a wonderful cook. He cooks full 3 course meals everynight and can sure as hell grill some food on the BBQ! He always packs food to take hunting and camping (I can never think of food, I'm to busy thinking abount hunting) He's great about having company over too!

On an odd night when I'm alone I can make a pretty mean sandwich, bowl of cereal, or microwave up some frozen burritos. :beer

I will say though it's a trade off. I do just about everything else. Housework, Dishes, Laundry, Yardwork, I'm the only one that cares for the dogs (as I must know its done right, lol, my way or no way) Plus I work.

He works, cooks, and hunts. Thats about it.
