How the FU** are we supposed to save the hounds

A buddy of mine just emailed a link to youtube entitled "caught on ground". You guessed it some freaking inbred redneck video taped their hounds killing a coon on the ground for the whole flippen world to see.
I'm the president of a sportsmen's club in Washington and we have vowed to fight for our rights as sporting dog people. And then some freaking moron post something like this. How am I supposed to go to the public and ask them for support when they can google cruelty to animals like this. What you do with your hounds needs to stay your business not the whole worlds. But once you post something like this, we have no leg what so ever to stand on.
The archery world and the deer and elk hunters would never stand for someone. Shooting a deer then standing over it with a bunch or clubs and kicking and beating the animal til it finally gives up the ghost. But in the hound dog world we believe this is right.Then we post it and PISS off people who before never knew what we did nor did they ever care what did.
Then they post back a reply and we answer with if you don't like don't watch it.
WTF..... if we had half a brain we would never allow this type of hunting. We are sportsmen We need to conduct ourselves in a humane way. Why the hell do you think we keep loseing everything.
HOW am I supposed to fight for the rights of sportsmen , when we post SH.t like this.
This stuff pisses me off that we can't be true sportsmen, and we have to be blood thirsty killers.

I have seen videos like this myself and wondered why the HELL they would do this. All it is doing is giving us a worse reputation than we already have. Videos of pigs with 6 pitbulls hanging off of them isn't going to help. As long as people keep putting it on youtube or whatever, there will always be more for the anti's to use against us. Maybe we should start flagging these videos when we see them.

yeah i was just talking about that to my dad cuz i think i saw that same videoo or one like it and yeah its not smart to put that on the internet if you want to be hunting the hounds at all

If we showed videos of our dogs doing the job they are supposed to do and treeing game. No big deal. If we show a video of a bear or cat or coon humanely being harvested no big deal.( by the way you will never see a kill shot ever on any video I take.) But once we show a video if a animal that we have treed and then we allow our dogs to maim and eventually through a brutal fight lose it's life, we have lost all of our ground with any sane voting indivual. As long as we treat our selves as stewards of our wildlife we will have as much power as the Bass fisherman and the Whitetail hunters. BUt until then know one will support us. Right now California and Montana are under attack, and to be honest there is enough BS on youtube that they are going to lose. It's hard to say that "Oh no it's only a few hunters that don't respect our wildlife" when the web is full of idiots getting their jollies off their dogs killing game. Come on guys we are losing our sport and many of you aren't helping anything for the better.

the sad thing is most of that is done by young guys who haven't a clue what its all about and then they think they done good. it's real close to animal baiting in the law books and probably crosses the line in some areas. hopefully it all fades away but I'd have to guess not. maybe the best thing to do is flood these sights with so many hound trailing videos that it takes weeks to dig up the offending videos think about it if every one posted their training videos( not the mauling type either) and trailing videos on the net with a shitload of dog kills bear hound kills hog type tags the anti's would at least have their work cut out for them finding it and then most people scrolling through would never see the bs. I firmly believe houndsmen need a national charter that covers all pursuit hounds regardless of game or breed then the numbers would be big enough to say something.

I totally agree with a national charter for sporting dogs, the only problem is the retreiver guys and the beaglers don't want to be associated with us because of these kind of things. I think thanks to the net we have dug a hole so freaking deep we can't find the bottom.

I wouldn't worry about the bird dog guys until things are working well then start shopping for them to join there's a lot of houndsmen in the us we just need that special spokesman and some hard working officers. problem is most hounddoggers don't have a single political bone in their body and have a hard time trusting those that do.

I know where you fellows are coming from , but in the same token remember when the anti's were going around spray painting people who were wearing fur coats ? Threatening to kill family members, burning down peoples houses . Maybe we should have put it up on a web site and commented about how sick they were . These people put animal lifes ahead of human life . They don't want you to eat any type of meat , eat eggs drink milk or do anything they think that causes any undue stress to an animal. YOU CANNOT DEAL with these nuts ! I know they use pictures and video's of animals hunted , but even if there were no pictures or video's of these hunts do you honestly in your hearts think it would change anything ?

No it won't ever change an anti's mind....but it will change the minds of those sitting on the fence about how they feel about hound hunting or those who have never seen it or heard of it before in their lives. You show them a video like half the crap thats on Youtube and they will hate hound hunting for the rest of their lives and never care to know anything about it.
We can all say screw the anti's and we don't care what they think til' we turn blue in the face but it's not the anti's who matter, they believe in a religion of animal rights and always will, they are a lost cause and indeed my personal opinion is "scew 'em".
BUT...
Who matters are those who have not yet formed an opinion, and I guarantee if you show them a video like that I know who's side they will end up on.

The one's that are on the fence are the one's that we are going to have to show,
that we aren't the blood thirsty killers that a few want to Be's portray us as.
These guy's that post that kind of crap might as well get rid of there dog's and sell all there gear because all there doing is making it even easer for us to lose our fight to the anti's!

100% correct, and we tell these people we love the animals we hunt and we respect them. And what do they see all this crap. Why can't we realize that we can use catch and release. Harvest a few no problem. Eat what we kill. Cougar meat awsome, bear meat(my favorite), and bobcat( you guys are flat missing out if you don't dress these critters out. Coon? I just can't go there YET.............................................
