Maybe JC should put a poll out to see what the others on BGH think about using the FLIR to score this year?
Buddy, thanks for the offer!! I hope we can get one for the rest of the contest, that would be great to check out looking through the Myrtles and Tan Oak trees and all the understory that's below the Big Trees here.
Mark, some trees can't be climbed without climbing gear or cut without a chain saw and if you do,it"s triple stumpage. Bino's are OK because they are common for cat hunters. TMO
Not starting S#!T, it's just is what it is!!!!

i have no idea what flir your using but they're a real advantage over the guy who doesn't have one. i have never used one to check for treed game or anything with fur so it might be a little different. but i doubt anything in a tree would be missed in half the time you can spend trying to shine one.

Geez you guys, now ya got Buddy smiling, he's got $$ signs in his head for all the FLIR's he's going to sell from your contest. If you wana be a big time cat hunter, you gotta have a FLIR. Put your order in now, their going fast....
Just kidding guys, should be a useful tool for what your doing....

The only problem is most Cat hunters are Broke! I don't think I can sell many of them, at these prices.

if something comes up that needs addressed mark Armstrong will have the final say in the matter.

Oh Oh :D :D :D

Mondo, i dont need anything to impress the ladies. They flog to me!!!! The problem is they all want to go hunting with me and after a dozen or so times of not seeing anything that remotely looks like a cat they just kinda move on??????? I generally hunt in the traditional manner of nothing but a loin cloth and a knife in my teeth chasing the dogs on foot every step of the way. This Flir thing is at the top of my CHRISTmas list, because after running with the dogs all that way i want to see something or know the reason why!!!!!!! I dont think these mutts of mine are above lying to me.

lmao mark has a point there with him being the finale say in this shindig. the flir may show the hunter a body but does it show the difference between a coon and cat? a whole lotta easy treeing coon in them woods. jc still has entries left so I don't think it wuold tip the outcome if we used it from now on? and when mark comes to hunt,,,some one please get a picture of him in his loin cloth!!! we could have some real leverage for next year with a picture like that lmao

I will put insurance on it. If it is damaged to any point that Buddy doesn't like,i will buy it for the original purchase price.

Be careful with it JC!!!!!!! Lmao

Old dog, if it wont determine what species is up the tree, i say do it the old fashioned way and "roll it out" lol Of course JC will have to make that call

Dang, a Flir is 3k+, I know a democratic logger (that voted for nObama TWICE), in Oregon that brings that kinda cash home daily.. :)

If any of you guys are smart enough to post a pic on here off your phone, I can text a pic to you to post for me so everyone can see mark in action right when his dogs actually jump a cat (Just pm me your #). And he's not wearing a loin cloth, so don't worry...

as long as a coon don't get counted in a catdog contest it seems fair to me

I just want to say I know NOTHING about cat hunting with dogs, never done it and don't know anyone in Virginia that has purposely tried it. May not have a population to make it worthwhile. But this has been the best post for learning some things about cat hunting with some good bantering and good natured (I guess, lol) insulting that I have kept up with in months. I have really enjoyed it and wish all of the contestants and the person organizing this the very best of luck with it. Hope everyone participating has good hunting and a good time. Thanks to all.
