Brinkdog, i'd hate to send mine to someone who actually hunted. They are too use to sittin on the chain, and all that heat they'd probably tip over.
KK, thanks for the information. I have never heard of the guys you mentioned, thats why i started this post. Keep up the good work and post a few pics if you get a chance.
If i can get poco to put some pics on a computer, i'll post a few mutts on here.
Thanks for the replies and information fellas.

nvlion, thanks for the info.
I was just sittin at work bored writin down the dogs i could remember and where i got some of them. I also wrote down what the dogs cost. It's kinda funny when you actually write down whats what and what dogs turned out for you.
Anyways here is a summary.
I've owned 12 dogs and 22 pups. "started a heck of alot more pups"
I've bought dogs for the following amounts.
1-1,500.00
4-500.00
1-350.00
3-200.00
1-trade for starting a colt
2-free
Here is the break down on the pups.
1-100.00
2-50.00
8-free
4-trade for starting other pups
7-bred and started myself
I got my very first 2 pups from Dan Isaacson of Goshen, utah. One fireball "zeek" and one cull. The cull we kept and bred LOL. Zeek is the daddy to my jessie female who has given us a few litters of nice trash. Jessie's mom was named Josie and i got her from an old houndsmen who lives in Spring City named Bob Olsen. One tough ole man who has got some crazy stories about the old days.
I've also gotten dogs and pups from the following people in no special order, Jeff Bradley, Ryan Anderson, Mike Martindale, Eric Milligan, Shawn Wadsworth, Zane Peters, Bill Pollock, Kim Payne, Wade Lemon, Carl Bettis, Tony Bettis, Bridger Petrini, Carson Dyches, Jason Adamson and there are a few others who i can't remember.
I have had to opportunity to meet some great people over the years. I wouldn't hesitate to take the opportunity to meet new houndsmen and women and see what they have in their backyards. There are good dogs in every state. Trick is finding out who they are.
Best of luck, jason

That is funny I hunted with old Danny Isaacson and Dale Steele, And Jeff ?, Ed Hunter a few times down in Sanaquin (20 + years ago). Has he told you about guiding Ted Nuggent? Them were some crazy guys. Is Danny still hunting? I heard Dale got out of it. Dale had a old Walker female that was a dry ground delux dog. I wish Iknew what her breeding was.

Paco, it's a small world when you get talkin to people isn't it? Haven't talked to Dan in a long time. I need to get ahold of him. I know that he still has some dogs but not sure how much he hunts these days. I've heard the story of Ted's hunt but cant remember details.
When are you gonna try and come down to see some trashy pups?

Well I guess I'm pretty lucky out of 11 dogs I've only had to pay for 1. The guys I've gotten dogs from are: Kelly Strain, Don Capelli, Joe Maslatch, Roger Hoof, Link Eddy, Jack Franks and Larry Hartman all are great guys and I only got one dog that didn't turn out to be a good lion dog.

If you talk to him ask him about that walker female Dale had and see if he remembers the history on her. Boy she was a nice dog.
You say the word and I will have my wife pick up that little little trashy pup. I have to make a trip down sometime soon but the Lion hunt is on here Monday and I will be running dogs every day on Lion and then Bobcat until the end of March. Then they will have a short rest until the Bears come out.
You guys need to plan on coming up, maybe bring the wives and they can all go to Steamboat and go shopping and doing girl stuff

I believe Dan is still hunting, he's Wade Lemon's right hand man and works for Wade all winter. Has been doing that for quite awhile. I don't think the Steele guy is in dogs anymore.
Carl Bettis pulled the plug and he's out of hounds. Tony is still going full throttle and he's out in CA guiding right now, racking and stacking as usual. I got two of his blue pups down at the farm tearing everything up right now.
I have an old dog at my house I got from Ed Hunter, it's about 14 or more now and is basically blind, deaf and probably senile but it can spend out it's days in my backyard. Ed has had some bad health problems with Diabetes. Had a kidney transplant awhile back and told me last time I saw him he needed another one. So it's been rough on him. I think he still hunts with his boys a little but his health has him limited to what he can do.
Jason Adamson is my neighbor, he's still kicking around and still got some dogs. I don't see him too often but I know he still hunts and has some dogs. My buddy sees him at the Auto Auction now and then.
Good to know those guys ain't above slummin' with some Sanpete Co. hillbillies.

Hound Dawg, you utah county boys are known for trashin!!! I've been waitin to see you in the neighborhood, but you must be smarter then the rest. If you don't have private ground to hunt you better not go to bed to get a stinkin track......lol.
Thanks for the info on everyone, it's been a long time. When did Carl get out of hounds? I could have swore i saw his truck last year around Santaquin with the dog boxes still on. Can't miss that truck.
Glad to hear im not the only one dumb enough to keep a few pups around. I hope that they are givin you a run for your money. Let me know if you wanna feed some more, i'll send some up.
See ya slummin this winter.....?

Hey Poser,
You did see that green truck last year... but Carl sold it to Tony a couple of years ago. So you would have seen it running all over from hell to breakfast.
Tony just sold it and BNG is driving a fancy Chev now. Carl has been out of dogs for a couple of years now I think.
You'll have to come up my way to bump into me, you won't see me down in Sanpete roaming anymore unless I'm hunting up an autograph from Kattraxx or visiting one of my many lady suitors.

And you won't have to get up real early to beat me anywhere. Don't play that game anymore.
I just hunt where no one else wants to, or sneak on to private ground (preferred method)
Carl is driving a big red Powerstroke these days, it ain't a hound dogger truck. I think he found out life after hound dogging ain't all that bad.

Hell I don't blame you dawg, cause it looks like you're a better pheasant hunter and fisherman than hounddogger anyway........

No doubt about it Dennis! I'm a top shelf lover, a pretty good pheasant hunter, an average fisherman, and a piss poor hound guy!
But after reading all your stories this fall of going out and then gathering dogs and trailin' back home with nothing in a tree, sounds like I'm in good company!!
I will say this much, those bird dogs were sure easy to gather when the hunt was done!
