Jack, so you are the gentlman who developed the Layzer hounds? Can you tell us about how you started your line of dogs and what happened to them in a little more detail? I have heard alot about the Layzer dogs but never had great understanding of their origins and the work you did on them.

Jack I am up in Little Fort a bit north of Kamloops. My mother found your book at a flea market and thought I may enjoy it.

I was a Government Predatory Animal hunter for 23 years working over the south west part of B .C. From 1955 to 78. The first few years all cougar and black bears were vermen and could be shot on site. No bag limit or season. You must remember there were only four or five houdsmen in the south west of B. C. at that time, Vancouver Island had many more hunters. Most of the blood in our hounds came from the Lee boys at that time. Yes the blood is still putting cat up trees in Canada and the U S A Jack

I will say it's been a long time and many crosses that failed, but over time I think we have some great hounds. Some time I think they should be a little redder, but the boys now call the shots. The picture of me and the bobcat and four hounds are the early ones. Have a fun hunt Jack

Is the black and white one named Nelly? Did she come from the Lees also?

She was half lee and a local hound from this area. Black and Tan Redbone. Jack

No they were smostly blue.and redbone. About 1 out of ten pups could be white.

I crossed with the Lees from 52-62. No I never had a Goswick hound. Jack

She was half Lees stock, her mother was a redbone looking hound from Lees.
