Not only NO but H*** No. I've never had a BROKE dog or seen one. JMHO but if you think you have a broke dog your'e kidding yourself or don't hunt much. Mine stay pretty well BENT because I make them, not because they were born that way.

I have had dogs that wouldn't run a deer, in fact those dogs wouldn't run a darn thing!!
The trash runners are the best once you have bent them. IMO

Just my opinion, but it Depends on how old they are and how much good Game they have seen..

But absolutely I will Defenately put my dogs down with Trashy dogs any chance I can get.. That's my defination of "Bent" Not sure I've figured out how to define "Broke" yet..

So yep.. I'll give my Dogs every oportunity and every excuse to run trash that I can find.

How old are your dogs? I have trouble believing that any hound that ever lived didn't at one time break or start trash, and that doesn't matter who owned, trained or bred those hounds. Big Game Hounds are scent dogs and they trail game, and left to their own device they'll run trash unless taught differently.

Where I live, we have lots of winter range where deer and elk litter the roadways and provide a hound lots of opportunity. In my experience, I seldom have much trouble with a yearling and they stay with the pack on the game of choice. However, sometime between eighteen months and two years they all take a turn on trash--every damn one of them. That's a good time to road them through ten or fifteen miles of winter mule deer range and give them chance after chance to fire on trash. Bottom line if those young dogs leave the old dogs they better have something in the tree when they finish.....

I just re-read my Post.. I dont' want to lead anyone on.. especially here on the internet!.. That's just my Definition of what "bent" is.. Some days I think I'm there, but other times I get reminded.. A yote last weekend kinda changed my opinion of how Bent I thought I they were...

Hate to burst your bubble Ike, but BTS hasn't had any dogs run trash

I think iunderstand most of this. To say my dogs have never busted on a deer would be lying but they have always broke off and back on cat track say with in 100 yards. Then have cat in tree later in the day. To me thats not trashing. Trashing is chasing deer or elk all dame day long tell the dog can't find any more to chase.

well larry looks like we should all send are dogs to bts or maybe have him teach us to be be smarter than our dogs heck he mite not even have dogs he mite smell out them lions himself

if yall get one that wants to run a deer just send em on down to sothwest georgia i'll take them off your hands.

I find it quite amusing you cant wrap your head around the possibility that some just dont trash out on a race when set down on an intended target.
But I guess you've seen it all, done it all and obviously know it all.

I'll tell ya a trick, I used to hiked with them in deer/elk wintering grounds and look for sheds with them as puppies. I'd let them bugger off on their own and when I couldnt hear their bells or they hadnt checked back in 10-15 minutes, I'd tone them back.
Now they always check back, something else they learned from doing that.
So yes they learned deer are no fun, they've smelled thousands of them and the 3 or 4 set ups I did with them at 4-5 months old combined with what I just mentioned, has paid off.

You just had to pull me back in didn't ya! If what you say is true about yours dogs never running trash, then I think we can all determine how often your dogs get out of the box, not very. i guess it could be challenging to find a road that hasn't been driven so the dogs can get a strike away from all those exhaust fumes
Yer still gonna stick to the "my dogs won't run trash" claims aren't ya, good, makes this pretty easy.

nope never even met the guy but he gave some pretty good advice and you had to chime in and not shutup pushed my button callin people stupid but i guess everyone seems dumb to the best lion hunter in history
