"Bearkiller has a good point, and that is the actions each of us take impact others whether it's trashing the roadside or breaking laws by turning out on a bitch with kittens. In today's world, a guy should figure that there is always somebody watching and that his actions should be done in accordance. That's how and why new laws are put on the books, to eliminate problems. If the responsible parties won't clean up their act is why we have law enforcement, to help educate those who won't.........

Hey Doogie by the sounds of it I am glad you will stay in MT. That means most of the females with kittens won't get ran.
Rookie the litter is a huge problem. I agree we should be worried about that litter and it has been brought to the a attention of the law enforcement. They have closed many trails and if caught there is a huge fine. That still doesn't stop people from being stupid. The people that are driving around drinking don't want to be caught with a open container in there truck or they can be charged by law enforcement. I think the hardest part of this whole thread is the ethics people have and don't have. A lot of people only think of today and anything in a tree is better than going home empty handed. But when you think about what is going to happen with all the pita people come to the table with people running females with kittens or sows with cubs we will be shut down on hounds and only get to spot and stalk. I agree some times you can't tell what the track consist of but that's when you need to walk it for a little bit to make sure what it is. We have all ran and caught something that we shouldn't have but it's people that say they know it's wrong and still run them that are hurting everyone else.
I wish those guys that like to run female with kittens could see the long term effect. That would change at least a couple guys minds. I am not trying to be a jerk but I enjoy lion hunting and want my kids to be able to hunt to. But I am afraid with all the changes and people coming up that don't care about there trash and running any track will be the end to a great thing.

A couple things. First of all, we have enough problems with fish and game to turn someone in for something petty. It is better to try to handle it ourselves. If I knew the guys name I'd call him out by name. Second, the litter was my main complaint. The young lions were the icing on the cake for me.
Dgarret, the trash was clearly thrown from the truck. since they were several feet from the tire tracks. They were also driving a 40,000+ truck with a bad ass aluminum dog box. If it was a money issue, I'd spend the money on the dogs before I'd spend that kind of cash on a dog box.

I am sooooooooooo glad I am not in MT!! Seems there are no rules and regualtions for anything.. Can trap wolverines, can litter roads, can pursue females with kittens. Geeze it is still the real wild west there. That being said.
The reason it should be illegal and unethical to pursue a mother with young is because those youngsters do get caught and killed by a pack of hounds. We have all seen what a hound can do to a coon on the ground. A kitten has no chance at all.
I once heard of a houndsman who's dogs caught a kitten in a den and that was that. He did report it to Game and Fish and I don't know what the outcome was, but at least he reported it. Accidents do happen and you can turn out on a single adult track and end up finding out it is a mother with kittens, most of us who have spent any amount of time hunting has had this happen, but to intentionally turn out knowing there are kittens is just wrong!
As far as the littering goes. Have some respect!! If you want to live like a pig do it in your own house don't litter our National Forest and other areas! Anytime my boys and I are on the mountain we pack out our own mess along with what we find out there. And beer cans and hunting are not a good mix!! Hello!! last thing I want is to be out hunting and have some drunk hunter accidently shoot me or my dogs!! I agree with the topic of this thread!! Grow up people!!

What does trapping wolverines have to do with anything. Montana allows 5 wolverines to be taken each year. Most years around 3 or 4 get taken. All in the most northwest section of the state close to the canadaian border . By your comments I can tell you been watch animal planet and believe the bunny humper BS they spew. Next you'll be say Marten, Otters and Feild Mice are endangered. I saw the retards the Forest Service had out on sleds 5 days a week doing the track surveys. They couldnt tell a Fox track from a Mountain Lion. I dam glad you dont live in Montana. Be just what we need another anti-trapping outa stater here to try and change our way of life...dgarrett

I'd rather not have to worry about the assult charge that would be pressed against me if I confronted someone, they where clearly breaking the law, call the fish cops that's what they are there for.
Tessa that's the pot calling the kettle black, you have no room to say a word, after bragging about running bears in a state where its not allowed at ALL, and live in a state that pretty much clasifies a lion as a predator and numerous lions are left to lay and nothing is done about them. You think they would allow wolverine trapping without sound biological data to allow it, get real

Doogie,
The wolverine comment was directed toward you sarcasically as from a privious topic about trapping wolverines and someone asking where they are to trap. You have an answer for everything, but if someone like myself simply asks if it is even legal to trap them you play the Montana Regulation know it all! Last time I checked the wolverines were in the high country where there are no roads and how would someone like you get there to trap them if you don't leave the cab of the truck??
As for the pursuing bears in Wyoming, I do believe in the post I put on here about the bears here that I had a CONTRACT with the Wyoming Game and Fish. You are so good at reading the regulations go back and read that post!! Thank you very much!! Now go back to sitting in your lazy boy.

AWH..now dont be pickin on doogie for dumpin on kittens. Im sure he knows the odds of him an his dogs catchin them are slim, And the chance of them gettin close enough to strech anything over ten pounds is none

i also figger he only leaves a trail of beercans and candy wrappers behind him as a safety precaution, So he can find his way back home after dark.

Your the one who told the kid it was illegal to trap wolverine in MT and you don't even live here wtf
I know what the regs say, you and sourdough need to look them up before you open your mouth and go spouting off, if bearkiller would have UT posted as his location this would be a one post thread
I dident know our WY contract allowed you to illegaly chase bear on the MT side better remember what you brag about
They make snowmobiles these days, that don't need roads
I see your not up on the today mountain either
Do they even teach reading comp south of Idaho? dosent look like it

Geeze doogie did Santa leave you a of coal for Christmas? Seems you are more aggitated than usual. I am going to clarify a few things here since you obviously cannot read correctly what I posted or just have selective hearing on what I have said.
I ASKED in the wolverine post if it was even legal to trap them in Montana. I NEVER said it was illegal. Please go back and read that again if you still do not understand.
Secondly, I have never hunted bear, lion, or anything else in Montana. I mentioned my next door neighbors who are Crow Indian, invited me to go bear hunting on the Crow Agency. Now you better go get out your regulation book there and see that the Crow Agency does not apply to MT regulations.
Oh and to say that people south of Idaho need to learn reading comprehension is not very nice. Some of the most intelligent houndsmen I have met are from states south of Idaho... Infact that is the majority of the United States. Or were you just speaking of UT, NV and WY? Not a very intelligent post there Doogmiester!!

Doogie I didn't think your parents would let you take the snowmobile other than to go to school, church and the market.

I read the regulations I just didn't know if you had.
bearkiller's was hot over the fact about the litter that others tossed from their vehicle and to top it off they were going to turn out on a small female with kittens.
Trash is a huge problem on our public Lands , others on here have voiced their opinions on the subject they did that so that we as houndsmen would do a better job of policing our garbage and the mark we leave behind. Houndsmen are not the only folks on public lands leaving trash, but it is our job to keep what we have, and make others aware of the problems we see.
I do not have to worry about my position on pursuing females with small kittens. as your comments and the feed back you have gotten on this forum should prove that the vast majority view the pursuit of females with small kittens as unethical, legal or illegal ethics shows the true measure of a man...
The assumption that that bearkiller was from the great state of Montana only made an ass out of you.
Doogie,
I am not sure that I am understanding your quote.
"Do they even teach reading comp south of Idaho? dosent look like it"
I sure hope you are not trying to teach English comprehension and spelling.

What if you don't litter the roads, don't kill the animals you catch, just chase and train dogs... Are you still evil?
I'm just wondering because We have all caught sows and cubs (bears) if you hunt bears. But if you take pictures and videos, and watch them climb down the tree, why are you gonna be sent to the 7th circle of hell by everyone for it?
I agree that littering in the woods is pretty tacky. Killing any animal with a baby inside is even more tacky... But if you just chase the animal and nothing is hurt and you leave no trace, what is so wrong?
I guess if everyone walked on the rice paper in the woods and no one ever knew you were there, it wouldn't be so wrong to CHASE animals... Killing young animals is pretty screwed, but pursuit doesn't seem to hurt much if it is for the dogs and you are just having fun and aren't doing anything terribly wrong?
idk lol.
Happy Holiday on a better note everyone!
