Dogboy the reason i am posting is because its in my back yard also. 10 miles from our ranch.
I dont know what it is but i think its too big to be a house cat.
DerekE the pic was taken on the NW corner from where 16 and 20 meet.

I don't know the proper name of the veg behind the cat but it grows all over this area. Judging from that and the T post it's a small animal. Also game cameras don't take pics from all that far away, at least not far enough away for a big jag to appear that small in a photo. Also every pic I've seen of a jaguarundi they have a longer backline than this cat. I wish it were a jag but I say kitty cat.

Bet Waylon is still right!
He has something that will run it!
Bet the Cat would give our Pups a good Race as well!
Talked to some fellows in FL last month who run feral Cat with Curs and Beagles...they have nice 15 to 20 min Races close to home.
Good running to All!

The nose is very flat and domestic looking, it looks more round than longer. The profile of all the wild species in north america at least will look longer. I have never see a jagarundi that black. What kind of feed is that yellow stuff on the ground? Cracked corn, if so that will give you a pretty good size reference. I'm saying its a pretty impressive looking domestic.

the largest feral on record shot in britain in the 50s was almost 40#. according to what i have seen & heard from Aussie hunters their ferals are heading toward that size as they have nailed several 20# cats. fortunately for them they have a more responsible attitude toward protecting native wildlife.

I would have to see it in a tree to know what it is, pictures are to hard to judge. I can say that it is not black Jaguar. To be fair and open minded I will not say it is a house cat but it does have a pretty coupled up body for a Jaguarundi. IMO.
