You Balsam Lake boys must have just harvested a super potent batch of weed. I didn't realize they let you smoke that stuff at work.

I suppose you go to little league games and see a kid who catches an infield pop fly, then think you just saw Derek Jeter in action. :D

As for bear hunters, I never hunted with the guy but a few guys I know who catch plenty of bears always thought highly of Bud Ison on the east side of the state.

well i can gladly say i did not vote in the last presidential election  however i would feel a little guilty if did not cast my vote on this one. for utah my vote would go to wendell hatch, he has chased all over this great state and every state that borders it for fourty years and still hard at it. i have no idea what kind of numbers he puts up in a year, he is not the type to say. i do know that he goes out of his way to pass pn his experiance and knowledge to others and i have even heard hes had a few plotts so good they could teach a bear to sit and stay while they stopped for water....

I'd have to say Dan Luke, he's almost 60 and still going strong. That man has spent more time in the woods than most could dream of. Duane Smith would also be right up there with Danny, both very dedicated houndsmen with more knowledge than you can shake a stick at. I consider myself lucky to know them and even though we haven't had the pleasure of hunting together, I hunt with my father who hunted with them quite often when he was younger. If only I was born 20 years earlier :|

This is tough, as there are some hard core bear hunters, and dogs, in WI. I think the Ison, Flannery, or keister crews are tought to beat. I know there is a lot of other good hunters, but the three listed are 3 and 4 generations of hunting bear, and dogs. And get the job done.

My vote goes to all the houndmen who produce the goods over a long period of time. The houndmen who does this by raising their own dogs or pups. Trained and raised by themselves not bought or trained by another person. A person who can see the greatness of a dog and improve upon it.

Hands down Billy Havens(Chaser). 50-80 bears a year every years for as long as I can remember. Awesome dog power! A kennel full of top rig dogs that can flat turn up the heat and put the bears in the tree.He is hard to beat anywhere he goes no matter where and he does just that and has hunted bear all over the US.
