I know this is an old post but I figured I would give an update. I have 3 females that aren't fixed, they all just came in at the same time. So I guess I am a victim of the sorority syndrome. It is kinda funny to me because last year they were all over the place. The bummer is they will probably come into heat right in the middle of next season. That sucks, I will be leaving dogs at home right in the prime of season.

George, that's why I have 3 females and one cut male. I can't afford to leave one at home. I need all the help I can get.

I have the 4 females, 3 males. 2 of the males are cut. The only male that isn't cut is the youngest dog I have. He did so good at an early age that I have decided to wait until he gets older to make the decision. Even though he is the dog I need to focus on, he will have to stay home. I hope they all stay on the same cycle so it will only be for a few weeks. I have always fixed my males, it sure makes life easier but if we all did that it would sure cut down the possibilities. He just turned a year old so I will be quick to make up my mind. Hopefully he does so good next season that I would consider it a crime to fix him, but time will tell. I just thought it was funny that all the females that aren't fixed came in at the same time. I have never had that happen before. If your wondering I just kept my mouth shut this time, being the wife and I have been getting along so well lately.

I'm feelin your pain george. I used to just get all my females fixed exept my breeder, but I found out the hard way that if you don't let them get a litter on the ground first you make em alligators. now I got dogs spread over half of utah trying to keep them from getting knocked up. and they do miss out on valuable experiance when they come in right in mid season.

Ive got two males right now that are almost the last of my original breeding. they both got chopped and I never thought I would have to breed them or that they would amount to what they did. oh how quick the tides can change.

Exactly, you never know. It is easy to fix them young, but what if they turn out to be good. I know there are good males out there, but sometimes options are good to have. If line breeding is your goal it is easy to back yourself into a corner. When you send them to get cut you better be sure. But what a pain.
