Ya I agree, it just gets good and your dogs are rock hard and bang!!! it's over. and then dnr comes and kills them because they are im somebodies pick nic basket. Rather see a sportsman get them than Depredation.

That Maverick dog of mine is a black plott that came from Maynard Smith. He crossed a black Weems/Shamrock male dog of his to a Maltese female that was Shamrock top and bottom. He was four this past spring and is turning into a bear dog, pretty tough on track, tree or a bayed bear. I usually give him alot of crap and call him my Obama dog from time time when he screws up and kills a porky or something (the obama name is used because he usually means well but just doesn't always do well or make the right decisions). And other than that he's a pretty neat little dog. I will give him credit the past few days as he's turned everything up a notch, by hanging tough on a running bear to rigging one yesterday--he actually beat Choco to the rig on the bear which kinda blew me away, but time will tell if he's coming into his own on the rig box.............

Glad to hear he is doing good for you. My Socki dog was a jerk when he was little, we would dump him in with the other dogs, and they would get it treed and he would find a freezing cold bear and stay on it. My dad and Uncle Chad used to always want to kill him lol. Eventually that attic light came on for him and he started running the catchable stuff and is a great rig-dog, trail dog, tree dog, pretty much an amazing little man.

He is getting old, a bear ruined his shoulder a little, so he can't be exercised as much as the others, he makes the long races but if they go extra-long he gets too sore. He is showing some grey on him chin lol, them black dogs show the age faster then the rest.
