Judging off the scales on the upper part of the body it sure looks like he had something big in his stomach??

Jeff , and others, that is a large snake, however, you might note that he is holding the snake on a stick out in front of him, thus closer to the camera which makes it appear slightly larger relative to the man's body. I have seen a few snakes in the 5 ft. size area over the years. Probably 20 years ago I saw a snake (dead) in Fairfield, Texas, that was larger than this one. Memory sometimes plays tricks, but I definitely recall that it was in the 7-8 foot range and it's body was larger. Some guys killed it at the Texas State Coonhunt and brought it in.

Those canebreaks from freestone county can get pretty big. I killed one that was swimming the river when I was a kid that measured 62 in. without a head.

Jeff now that you said that the guy holding it would have to be about 2 foot tall .

If it helps out the guy in the pict is about 5'8". The snake does look way bigger then the guy i was just posted what I was told the snake measured it could be bigger or smaller. Either way it is a damn big snake, that was eating pretty well.

Inch and Jeff, that picture is very believable. I did not mean to imply that anything said was not true, just that pictures can be a little deceiving. Google says that the record measured rattlesnake in Texas is 7'-8 1/2". This according to the U of T at Arlington. I would strongly suspect that larger ones have been killed just never reported (at least believably).

i wasnt doubting if you believed it or not i was just throwing a little more info out there that i knew. The area where this snake was killed is notorious for big snake apparently or atleast according to the older generation.

The snakes in Washington and Oregon don't get very big. That snake is very unusual for the area if it was in a different area I could believe it.
