Where in CO are you Daves? I may want to try some of your food for my dogs.

I am in the sw corner in a little town called Dove Creek.

I've been there. One weekend I may have to make a trip. Do you always have it for sale or do you need a certain amount of notice?

31% on the protein and 28% on the fat

i hunt squirrels. as i hunt i give the dog that trees the squirrel the head and share the feet and intrels with the other dog. i keep the rest and freeze. i cook the squirrels in the biggest pot my wife has. i debone and freeze the meat. i cook the squirrel with rice, add some garlic and brown gravy powder. i mix 1/3 of this with 2/3 of dog food. the dogs love it. i also use scrap deer parts that i get from my deer hunting friends, the heart, liver, etc. my grand father cooked corn meal with beef fat in a big iron pot and fed it to his pack of fox hounds in one common trough. i add what ever leftovers i can find to my mix as well.

I am going to post a recipe which has been very valuable to me.. This recipe is a total canine diet if one were to feed it as such....It is great for weaning pups, feeding dogs with mouth injuries or soreness, dogs that are having a hard time keeping weight up or just as a treat. The batch cost about 40-50.00 to make and lasts for a while....I hope others on the board will enjoy and utilize the recipe as we have over the years.

SATIN BALLS:
10lbs of ground beef (fattiest/cheapest)
1 lg box of Total Cereral
(use Total brand name it has the vitamins in it you need...cheaper brands don't)
1 lg box of Oats
1 lg jar of Wheat Germ
1 jar unsulfured Molasses
1 doz eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup cold compressed flax seed oil
(if you can't find this...add another cup of vegetable oil)
1 tsp salt
10 packs Knox Gelatin

Mix all ingredients together, much like you would a meatloaf.

Divide into 10 quart freezer bags and freeze. Thaw as needed. Keep refrigerated
Please don't feed with kibble, give opposite of your kibble(ex SB in AM-kibble in PM)...raw meats are digested much quicker than kibble and the kibble will lay in your dogs stomach longer.

Feel free to adjust as necesssary. i fed this without any kibble...give it a whirl, make a smaller batch and give it to justone dog,if you felt compelled to feed addl kibble, id add a SUPER high qality food, ie Abady in 1/4 cup quanities. id add 4 boxes of frozen spinach to make it last a bit longer and ad some more trace minerals.
