Bplott wrote:Neff, most rac members dont research anything..most of them just read the dwr propsal and go with that cuz they think the dwr knows what there doing...but just look what has happen with pheasant hunting, lion hunting, deer hunting....Seems to me once we get a population of something the dwr wants the $$$$ and kills them off... point is we gota have number and stick up for our hunting rights
Bplott I agree with you I to think we need to be strong at the meetings.
I was just asking Darrel a question that i was curious about.
Thanks

And if I may add I think they should leave the Bear Hunt / Pursuit just the way it is. That is my vote see ya at the meetings.

Me and the U.H.A(former UFH) have been fighting for our hunting rights for many years now and i will sure promise that it helps when we have a room full of hound hunters get up and give there points and opinion!! I really appreciate it im not the best public speaker but i try my best to get the points across...i will be on the phone this week with the DWR to see what is going!!!!!

So much for the room full of hound hunters at the Southeastern RAC. I was depressed to say the least. It has been the same guys(with just a few new faces) showing up every year for the past several years with not many new comers. Thanks to those who take the time to show up and fight for our sport. Like Mulehound, most RAC members can be pursuaded by numbers. I hope we can do better in the future.
Thanks also to the UHA for consistantly representing the hound community. For those of you who hunt in Utah, if your not a member, this is an excellent way to suport your sport. They put a lot of time into representing!!!

Not to sound negative, but I think alot of guys have been disheartend by what they have seen in the past. The RAC's seems to have become more of a formality than a conduit for public input. The DWR seem to have already decided what plans they will impliment and the RAC is just a box to check off so they can say they had input from the sportsman. To many times they have turned their back on the input that has been presented. Maybe this is why the turnout has fallen off. I talked to an individual that serves on the RAC in our area and they echoed that frustration. That being said, I also appreciate the time and effort that some of the sportsman have put in on our behalf.

I agree with you to a point. I think that the issues the division feels very strongly about on a macro-management level will go through; however, it is the smaller issues that I think the RAC's have the ability to sway the wildlife board's decisions. A permit here and there can make a substantial difference particularly now that the DWR will be managing on a three year cycle for both bears and lions.
Personally, I don't feel justified in moaning about what the division does when I am not providing my input. The RAC's is a way to do that.

Thanks Biggamehunter,
The UHA is trying its best to stand up for our rights as houndsmen in hopes that the DWR will listen to us and our opinions...There was a good crowd of people at the vernal rac thanks to all of you that showed up....I hope the central and northen racs are full of houndsmen....they arre the 14, 15 this week ...the wildlife board meeting is jan 4 at 9am......One thing i will guarentee nobody can make a difference sitting at home....even .02 cents will make or break a dollar....I feel if you wana continue to run dogs in this state and have game to chase then you got to get off the couch and do something about it!!
