What is your definition of perfect build? Not everyones is the same, its the beauty of this sport IMO, some like Plotts, Toyotas, AC/DC, and Sushi, others like Bluetics, Fords, Garth Brooks, and Whoppers :)

My personal favorite line are Cajun Plotts. IMO they are the best lookin, best built, and the hardest workin hardest headed dogs ever, some of the smartest and most importantly, best PRODUCING.

I also really liked the Bill Hicks Plott Female we had, she was one of the best and was a complete joy to be around at all times.

It's all about what YOU feel is gonna benefit you and your pack more.

Steve you may want to stick with the lion hunting theories and stay out of the Plott theories!

I like the plotts I run, I have one Bluff Creek/Shamrock he will be 2 in April. He is making a very good lion and bear dog. He has the best nose of all my dogs. He is very tough and keeps going day after day. I got him from Steve Herd and Steve was very good to deal with (but not real easy to get a pup from,) He is a real nice guy, I would call him and talk to him if I were you. I also have a couple of dogs I bought from Darrus Martin in ID, they are real good dogs also, 1 of them is Burnside/weems, and the other is Salmon River and Bluff Creek. I also really like the Swampland dogs. The ones that go back to Swampland Bawler. I am not saying mine are the best, but I like them.

That's funny my Plott theories don't seem to be much different than most others. Does not seem to keep the ones in my kennel from catching a critter or two either. Guess if you hunt enough you will find a stupid one once in awhile.

Don't have any lion theories either. Only know what I have been told, and learned from others. Which also does not seem to be much different than what the guys that hunt them regularly say. I suppose there may be some out there with big lung capacity to run all day, and areas to find tracks every time you go out. I wouldn't know.

Just for the record. I never asked for, wanted one, or even eluded to wanting a BC dog. It is also common knowledge who has the dogs, and how many litters have been produced and out of what. It's all on the web.

Regardless you still have to find what suits you and hunt the crap out of them to know what you got.

I can tell u that Darrel hunts all of the time wether bear bobcat or lion and his dogs produce on a regular basis. He is constantly trying to get better dogs and I feel that he is doing an outstanding job with that. I have personally got three dogs from him and they are dam good ones!! Thanks Darrel for the work your doing to strive to always get better!!!!

People should do their homework before they open their mouth. There are plenty of Bluff Creek dogs in WI and nobody is getting rid of them that I know of. I have limited experience with Jonets dogs and thought they were the real deal.

Well, soooorry Steve. Catch is the name everyone calls me a round these parts, so that is the name I go by.( I wonder why they call me Catch? ) If you know who it is, what difference does it make??????

From the sounds of it, you need to gain some knowledge about Plotts before you spout off.

A few examples of the great and the nick names!

Bat Man------------- Bruce Wayne
Air Jordan------------ Micheal Jordan
Iron Mike------------- Mike Tyson
The Ice Man---------- Chuck Liddel
Hulk Hogan----------- Terrence Bollea
Catch---------------- Me

Steve White wrote:There really is no best line out there. If there was we would all have them. Good dogs can be found in any line. Some do produce better dogs on a more consistent basis. The larger the number of pups produced each year. Normally results in having to weed through more dogs to find the good ones versus the average to mediocre ones. May be why some of the best dogs come from breeders that may only have 1 or 2 litters a year or less than that.

Lets work with simple numbers so we can keep this easy. If a litter of 10 pups is born, and 2 turn out to be duds and the rest go on to make good dogs, then its a 20%/80% ratio of bad to good. So if you have 3 litters of 10 pups in a year at that rate, then you end up with 6 duds that you have to "weed through". Yes that is more, but its still only 20% of what was born, compared to 24 that went on to make their owners happy. (80%). So the more born means the more you have to "weed through", could be seen as a true statement. But that doesn't mean just because a person raises 3 litters, or 5, or even only 1 in a year, that a bigger percentage of the pups born will have to be "weeded through" to find the good ones. And if you have a successful cross or crosses, and the majority of the pups born had gone on to satisfy their owners, then why not keep producing them? IMO, not producing them would be the worst thing you could do for the breed.

Have you needed a few rounds of antibiotics to clear up some "bugs" from trashy ladies over the years. :D

Sorry had to do it, it was just teed up to nicely.

I don't know a thing about all these black or brindle dogs so my opinion isn't worth the time to read. But I don't like getting a pup from guys that have a bunch of litters a year, because it's really not selecting the best they've got and crossing it. It's taking WHAT they've got and crossing it a bunch. It's best to take the money out of the equation, put them into the hands of guys who will hunt the hair off them, then see what you've got. Just my opinion.

Carry on fellas.

Steve W (anti bluff creek man) I knew you was good with computers, that is some funny stuff, wish I knew how to do stuff like that. I hope some guys buy into the anti bluff creek stuff. Then I might be able to get another pup from Steve Herd.
