I like Kennels by far. Mine are 16x20 each indoors and Im working on adding a 16x40 outside run to each one right now. Mine are very easy to clean the inside part in on cement with a slope and it runs into a septic system. As for the outside part 1/2 will be gravel and 1/2 dirt floor. I thought about making one big run outside for them all but I take them out back every day now with the quad and they have the run of 80 acres. So it works about the same and there is 2 ponds and lots of game so play time mixes with training.

I like that there are more houndsmen out there with "Pet hounds that hunt" my Bloodhound Walter is my first that is both have had several other hounds and always kenneled but he has been both since he was a pup and goes everywere with me hunting or to town and rides in the cab still have a dog box for the buddies dogs but he rides in style. and has been the first dog behind the yote at the last two kills. sure dose make the hunt more fun to have a easy handler. now he dose have a 10X10 kennel for when i am at work but when im home runs free and loves it.

I have gravel floored kennels and hate them. What was said about them smelling is absolutly true.Mine were cleaned every week and sprayed down with a mild bleach and water solution and still stunck.I used chains in the past and liked them fine but with living in town and all the liability on dog bites i went with kennels. Now what I am doing is building above ground wood floor roofed kennels ANDI LOVE THEM I will not keep a dog any other way.easy to clean because they are self cleaning. My dogs look better are cleaner and I don,t think I will have any problem with fleas this year.I had the humane society b@!##$ stop by the other day and all she could say was when is the others gonna be built?

I like concrete kennels for better control for worms and cleaning. All of my dogs spend time on chains to learn to give to pressure. A large turn out area is great. There is good things about all ways and some draw backs. Dewey

I use both, Dogs are kenneled through the night or when I am away for a couple of days or bad weather and chained out during those nice lacy days of summer. Current kennel is concrete makes for easy clean up doesn't seem to bother them. When I am working around the house outside all the dogs are let loose to enjoy the 2 acres, no chain, no fence, no invisible fence they all have been brought up from puppies and know where they are allowed to go. Not for everyone but works for me.

Pet dogs they all are but I have my first house dog ever Milly. I broke her leg when she was 5 months old brought her in the house to heal now she own the place and lets me sleep here. She sleeps in front of the fire place or by my bed on her rugs. She all ways keeps me in site great with the grandkid. When she hits the woods she is the hardest going dog I have. She is a Leopard Cur that I run with my hounds. Dewey

Chains all the way for me. It gives them much more room. A 10ft chain gives you nearly 3 times the space for the dog that a 10ft kennel does. I also don't want to keep them on concrete. I don't know if it is bad for their joints or not, but I know how my joints feel after being on concrete all day long and it ain't good.

D. Walton, could you show us a pic of your cur dog. I am interested in getting one to help move a pack of mean coyotes. Let me know how this dog hunts.

Chains ,kennels if they are well taken care of it dosnt matter. The big thing is getting them out and running at least every day or other day. With sighthounds they have to grow up running or they will be no good. They sit static for long in the first year might as well cull them.

My hounds are exposed to all of the above thru out the year as I travel around with them. I would say it doesnt really matter what a guy keeps them in or on as long as they get their daily interaction and excercise outside of their normal daily "keep".
