Being harassed because of my dogs

Well, so far he has only barked, is his barking bothering you? Just joking. I'd ask him to please make his complaints in writing and site laws and his ideas for change that would bring you into compliance. I think there are levels of noise that you can measure. You can record noise measurements also. Do some research. Also, I'd ask him to enter into a third party negociation. Make him feel like you are worried and he is winning. I think that might help.

i had barking dogs as well. but instead of my neighbors coming to my door and asking me to do something about them, they just thouhgt it would be a better idea to come to my house when i wasnt home and let them all out of their kennels. then a week later i had a sheriff come to my house and threatin to give me a ticket. i live 5 miles out of town. he said it didnt matter he could still ticket me. so i bought a water jet kennel silencer and pad locked all my kennels

I agree with Bear Hunter. From first hand knowledge...the more eveidence you have when you go to court the better. Keep records and a log of everything you have done. Get copies of the police reports as well. If he is calling you and leaving nasty messages, you can actually get him for harassment and telephonic harassment. Just record your conversation (most states allow you to record a two party conversation w/o the other party knowing) telling him you no longer want him harassing (calling) you. The next time he calls...call the Sheriff and give him your tape...your neighbor will be the one getting arrested....just my two cents worth.. oh I and you can check your States revised statues for laws so you are better informed...hope that helps

Ha, you guys or gals think you have problems, i got a neighbor which lived there ten years, got a girlfriend that hates hounds, made him get rid of his, and now after mine. Try 41 times, he has called the sheriff since June. I got three barking tickets, which i paid the first one, hoping to get along, and fighting the other two since July. We got 300 acres, a 100x100 steel building and or barn. A few cattle horses, hogs on occasion, and the hounds have been there 17 years. A 3 acre running pen, and the D.A. Suggest's I should move them to my house which is 200 yards away. They are under the lean part of the barn, out of the wind, south sun, and safe. I live 27 miles from town. The day before the Jury trial, he suggested mediation, which was a month ago, and we all know it wont work. If he doesnt do it the case will be dropped, or it will go to trial, oh, he has video of my dogs barking, LOL. I have shock collars on most of them. He inhearted the house, so i have legal rights, as i was there before him, the dogs were, and it has became a harassement issue for me. The sherrifs dept just calls now, if he complains, and I check the dogs, try that for a neighbor, and headace

the water jet system is a life saver. took about a week and they were pretty much shut up. one dog would make the slightly bark and they all wound run in there houses and stick there heads out and look up at the water jet. i dont even have it turned on anymore as for my dogs are kennel quite. i just turn it back on when i get a new dog that barks cost me 300 buck at lion country supply

Since he's an attorney, and he's threatened to sue you, I'd plan on a court date.

I believe (depending on state) threats to sue are harassment, especially if he doesn't file. Certainly save any phone messages and play them for the judge when you get your date. You WILL have one.

I'd start by making some complaints to the Bar Association in your region... Go after his livelihood. If you can get the guy disbarred, and make him go earn an honest living, you'll do us all a favor.

Hopefully he moves on to greener fields, and next door to another attorney.

All this just goes to show you whats wrong with this country. All these people are so sue happy now then you get these city people that move out to the country and want it to be like where they just moved. I dont get it I guess thats what happens when the world changes and I dont. When I had a new guy move in next door I made sure to get over there fast meet him make nice but also let him know this land had been in my family for the last 70+ yrs. I was set in my ways I had hounds we have livestock and as best I could let him know he would be living with it or he would be foced to move. We get along great and he would never call about anything.

Everyone wants to live in the country but not everyone is country. Our place has been in the family since 1877 and we are really set in our ways. We are now surrounded with housing developments. The first thing they do is put up street signs and yard lights. We have a yard light but it has a switch. It appears that they are afraid of getting lost so far from town and that they are afraid of the dark. The second greatest commandment in the Bible is " to love your neighbor as yourself". I'll admit however some neighbors are easier to love than others. It's unfortunate but lawyers have never taken that commandment to heart. Some of the biggest fueds I have seen in our area is among neighbors that all belong to a housing association. The lawyers love it and are more than willing to help keep it going. Bear Hunters advice is sound. Document, document, document. Being prepared is never a bad thing. Be slow to anger and be as good a neighbor as your can. Because someone is a bad neighbor is not cause for us to be the same. Christian houndsmen can lead by example when it comes to being good neighbors. Your life may be the only Bible someone will ever read.

Here is my update. After the guy called the sheriffs dept 60 times, me fighting the two tickets, working with the sheriffs dept, in a positive way, asking any advice to fix the situation, trying mediation, i got a letter from the D.A. yesterday. A summarization, as follows, Mr. Ison has tried everything possible to work together to control any barking, he lives rural, in a farm area, has had his dogs there 17 years, he will not be moving them, he has agreed to put up ultra sonic barking control, and the two tickets are dismissed, and also, a letter to inform the sheriffs dept, any similiar cases will not be tried in court. Basically saying there better not be any more tickets like this. So, as many things I thought of that was legal, to make the guy more misserable, I won for all of us owning hounds in this area. I have fought this for 10 months, and can now claim victory,and may go after his ass for harassement, talking to a lawer next week, He cant hide behind the taxpayer and county dollars now .Its coming out of his own pocket

Budd, tell brian I got a new big box of 22 shells His dogs was never mentioned. The wind chimes worked ok, He aggravates me now, Im thinking back to the origional plan of making one on steroids out of metal garbage cans Lots of wind in these fields, maybe were on to something and a good market for that type of wind chime Im thinking even the prototype would carry noise at least a mile After further testing, we should be able to achieve two After a ten month headace, I've got him long term exactly where I want him and plenty of documentation, so a civil harassement suit, will be very clear, and the next step, depends on him now, may do it anyway After him calling the law on you 60 times, who wouldnt go after his ass.

When my neighbors house went up for sale..... I watched real close for potential buyers and purposely made my dogs bark....lol.... that way there wasn't any chance off them thinking this was a quiet place......my long horn bull bellers pretty loud to when you hold hay where he can't reach it
What a nice guy I am for warning them......lol
