OOBUCK. I spent 14 yrs as a cop working a one of the largest cities in Ca before I got hurt and was forced to retire 4 yrs ago. After reading what you wrote about the school stop, I can tell you that the stop was justified and it sounds like they were pretty polite about the stop. I think the issue came from your school. In Ca when you enter upon a school grounds you give up all rights to search and seizure. Guns on schools are a HUGE deal now thanks to a few idiots and the media. Last year here in Willows we had two highschoolers went duck hunting before school. Parked ablock away from school and went to class. They were expelled for having guns near the school. The second part I have a feeling they cops think you are poaching and just havnt been caught. Thats why they are stopping you frequently for spotlighting. The third (dogs with heads out) when ever a citizen calls in a complaint unless its out and out racist (a call I got and canceld immediatly was "A black man sitting on a bus bench in a white neighborhood) the dispatcher makes up a call and the officer has to go. Now what I would do if I were in your shoes. I would sit down with your parents. Explain to them whats going on. Explain to them these two officers are harrassing you. Give them examples. Explain to your parents you are not doing anything dumb like poaching or taking guns to school and you want this to stop. Get them on your side.

Re: Got searched yesterday.
if they are stopping you all the time on suspision only and not a valid reason, that is borderline harrassment. i have had to talk to a lawyer before about similar situations and questionings. my lawyer told me that if they repeatedly are questioning you about certain things or the same issue just tell them one thing and don't say anything else. tell them to either give you the ticket or citation or please leave you alone. the more questioning they do they try to sucker you in to admitting something or turning someone else in for something. if they don't have proof they can't give you a citation. i have had to do it 2 times. neither time i was issued the citation because nothing was found to prove i was worthy of a citation. didn't say anything else to them except "give me the citation or please leave me alone".

Re: Got searched yesterday.
continued...... Now when they stop you. Be polite and let them go about their business. Then ask them for their name, Badge number, and the event or case number. Every traffic or police call will be logged and have an event number. If they dont have one it means they are stopping you and not telling dispatch. Leads more credability when you file a harrassement complaint. Do this and I think your problem will go away. You will still have to deal with the school. Feel free to PM me if you have any question. Show this to your parents and good luck.

My parents are on my side my mother was just paronoid ythat i might have drugs or something so she let them search it my father could care less about the whole topic anyways because he knows i dont do that, and he knows i wouldnt be doing anything ellegal.
And the cops have been anything but polite to me. I wouldnt consider pulling the same red truck over 4 nights in the same week and having me get out and get my truck searched polite. Really just a waste my time. Allot of times i have my dogs with me when im shinning at night. i see allot of raccoons and occasionaly fox to run. And if nothing around ill dump them on a deer to remind them thats not a good idea. my dogs are so used to this when i let them go they will get suprisingly close to the deer looking for some game and pay no attention at all to the deer. That makes me happy. its when i drive around at night and get stoped for a couple of hours thats what pisses me off a little.

They need to leave the kid alone, either they have something on him or they don't! If they have something on him get it done and back off. It is pricks like this that give Cops a bad name. I can tell you these cops need a little dircection by there supervisor.

OO Buck : Be very leary of carrying a spotlight in your cab after dark or letting your hounds get out to chase deer . You are right on the border of " Harrassing Wildlife " I would be willing to bet money if Fish and Game caught you than YOU WOULD be issued a Summons .
Whats with being stopped and searched and the whole deal taking a "Couple Hours"

so true!! but it just makes someones parents feel all better inside knowing its illegal to have a firearm in your vehicle at school now cus sombody shot up a school that was mentally unstable to begin with.. now i cant go buy ammo or guns at k-mart cus thats where the killers bought their ammo... im waiting for wal-mart to stop selling guns/ammo now after this arizona deal. hell half of them already stopped and their selection is already low.
00 good job standing up for your rights!! and like said just get your mom on the same page and make sure she says no next time..
If you like country music i recommend lookin up Aaron Lewis "Country Boy" on you tube its a good song and video!!
As someone who watched someone come to school with a shotgun with the intent to kill students I DO feel safer knowing it is illegal to have a gun at school! And that was not in Arizona, that is in the small little town of Nucla.
No matter who it is, I would not walk into a school is I saw a gun in the widow of a car, truck, van, or SUV.
Owning guns is perfectly fine, I support it 100%. But back in the day when you could trust your kids to walk to school without being picked up and horrible things happening to them is not the way it is today.
I've been in lock-downs in school and even if I wasn't I fully support laws against guns and bows and large knives being brought to school.
The bigger picture of school shootings is bullies, not guns at all.

Re: Got searched yesterday.
I feel your pain. I was pulled over a few weeks ago and recieved the same treatment you did. You said your still in school so I assume your young. When I was your age I was probabally not as responsible as you are. I was pulled over often and deserved most of it back then.
You already know this but just in case be sure your gun is stowed legally and everything else in the future. Your gonna get pulled over again sooner than later so dont get complasent. They will look harder for something next time. They are probabally thinking they didnt get you this time but will make up for it later. Keep you nose clean and they will give up on you eventually.

yes i know the school deal wasnt in arizona that was the congresswoman deal my point was he bought his ammo at wal mart. yes im sure u "FEEL SAFER" with it being illegal to have a gun on school property but really i dont think you are. if someone is going to come into the school and intend to kill people they dont give a shit if its illegal to have the gun with them. wtf do they care they are about to kill a bunch of people so a ticket for having a gun on school property is the least of their worries.. no i dont think they should be showin them off in the back window of their pickup but a shotgun or rifle behind the seat or in a trunk so they can do a lil hunting before/after school i think is just fine.
maybe they should make it illegal to bully people punishable by fine/jail that would stop most of them and save more lives then makin it illegal to have a firearm on school property. lol why should the good kids have to suffer and not have their firearms in thier trucks so they can do a lil huntin because some punk ass bully?
or maybe just a good ol fashion ass beatin every once in awhile by teachers and parents to keep the kids straight.

Re: Got searched yesterday.
How hard is it to honestly just stop by your house and grab your gun? Really people, are most teenagers as lazy as everyone makes them out to be?
There aren't enough good kids out there to make the laws against firearms at school go away.
And your right about the laws not really stopping anyone. Hasn't stopped anyone who has killed someone, obviously.
But answer this, how many kids lock their cars or trucks up?
I know my best friend didn't. I know my boyfriend didn't. I know a lot of kids didn't, most that went to my school in fact.
My truck was broke, so if you locked both doors, you could only unlock from passenger, a real pain in the ass. But I ALWAYS locked my truck.
So if some kid in the redneck mobile with a gun behind his seat or on the dash, doesn't lock his truck, what is gonna stop someone else from getting in there and taking it?
If you shouldn't have something somewhere, just do the right unlazy thing and don't have it there.
Construction people don't take their dynamite to the airport because when they land they are gonna blow some crap up

lol yes they are!! but for me it was a 30 minute drive to go get my shotgun then 30 minutes back to where i would hunt but if i had my gun with me it only takes a couple minutes to get to a hunting spot from the school i went to. thats the difference of being able to hunt in the winter time or not since it gets dark so early.

if i had one of my firearms in my vehicle i sure as hell would and i would keep it out of sight. if i go into the gas station just for two seconds i still lock my doors let alone leaving it in a parking lot for hours unattended with a firearm in it thats just dumb.

I completely agree. But a lot of kids are not as smart, or maybe it is that they haven't worked to earn that thing that could get stolen, so they don't care what happens to it, silver spoon equiped mommy and daddy will just buy them a new one.

Re: Got searched yesterday.
I graduated in 88 from Havre Montana. We could take off school to go hunting. No parent note required. Hunting was a valid excuse for missing school. I would sometimes hunt before school, lunch and after school. I'd fill a stand up freezer with nothing but bird breasts. I thought the rules were cool. I had good grades. My mother called the school once to complain that they let me miss school to often and they told her I'm doing well in school, working odd jobs, playing sports and hunting so be happy I'm one of the good kids. I can't see why a kid who's old enough to drive a car, probably has a hunter's safety card to hunt can't carry his gun in his truck wherever he drives. I mean please... couldn't he just run people over if he wanted to go nuts? When will they stop trying to regulate crazy?
