Phil has done both of my lions, which were taken with tntoutfitting. Phil sees more cats than anybody in the business, and his work is more than worth the wait and money.

Let's see some pics of that giant Byron.

I hunt with a kid from time to time that's a houndsman/taxidermist. He claims his mounts are as good if not better than anything Phil Soucy puts out.

Must've had a sip of that Basin water cuz Phil's da man IMO.

The gallery pic of the lion hanging in front of the brick chimney is one he mounted for me..

Not saying he's the best in the world.. just pretty darned good..

Good luck with it..

I hate to burst any bubbles here but I was wondering where the information about Yuri Rulin came from. Mr. Rulin did attend the World Taxidermy Championships last April in Reno, He had about fifteen life size pieces there. He walked away with one third place ribbon. It was a sub-category ribbon and he did not even place in the world standings. Might want to do a little research before you make such claims. As for the guy that says his cats are as good as mine, you be the judge.

I am a taxidermist here in Montana. Since I am a houndsman, I love to mount lions. I am always looking at Phil Soucy's lions to see what I can be doing to mine to make them look that much better. My last one came pretty close, and by that I mean I still have some improvements to make. Here is a link to the lion I just finished, any feedback would be great. Phil Soucy is the best, no reason to argue the fact.

My thoughts on lion mounts

MTBlack&Tan,

I looked at your lion and I think you did a very nice job. In my opinion I believe taxidermists screw up lion mounts in three ways. #1 the eyes look fake. To me the eyes are what make a mount look alive and real. I think sometimes the eyes on some mounts are too yellow and too wide open. #2 they make the lions too skinny with not enough muscle definition. #3 they mess up the ears by making them stick out in an unnatural position. I just dropped off a lion about a month ago. I couldn't afford Soucy this time around so I have my fingers crossed that it turns out. I think as a taxidermist you should ask the hunter if he/she has any live pictures of the lion before he/she shot it.

I took my cat to a local guy that seems to be doing some good work. Hes a one man show he even does all his own tanning. As most houndsmen Im poor, so the $1500 for a life size on a base seems really good to me. I called him about ten minutes after I shot it, He insisted I get it to him asap so he could do all the skining the way he wanted it. Letting him do the skinning also allowed him to take a bunch of measurements. Ill let you guys know how he does in about a year. P.S. he wont accept any money up frount. He calls you when hes ordering the form and you pay him supplies only at that point and the balance when its done.

Every client that my outfitter has we tell them to go to Phil Soucy, the ones that use phil are 100% happy with there lions :!: The ones that don't use phil will always call with some kind of nightmare story of how there cat looks bad and they want to book another hunt so they can kill a secound lion and take it to phil. We did a big sportsman show this week and had a phil soucy lion in our booth, other well known taxidermest were taking pictures of it so they had somthing to look at why they would work on theres. They also knew exactly whos cat it was and we didn't even have to tell them. Phil Soucy is the BEST hands down, anybody who says differant hasn't sat down and compared his cats to others :!: :!:

THE BEST----nuff said on this one

Well said. My clients are thrilled with Phils mounts, everytime! I send them to Phil 'cause he's THE BEST, not the fastest, not the cheapest, not the slowest, not cause he's my buddy (some days). But just because he is truly THE BEST.

Everyone needs to get real here, there is nobody that even compares to Phil just face it. His mounts look even more real than a real lion. I have compared a lot of taxidermists, and in my eyes there is no other taxidermists when it comes to cats or bears. If you ever see one of his mounts you will completely understand. Not only is he the best, but a Genuine individual that is fair as can be. He is not cheap, but he is the best, you indeed must pay for the best, but he is fair. Always keep in mind you get what you pay for especially when it comes to a cougar mount. Phil is the only taxidermist I recommend.
