I thought about mounting one of mine one time because it was the only way I would get him to stay at a tree.

I personally would not do it .Just as happy to keep some 8x10 glossy pictures hanging out in the Kennel/shop area . checked with the ole lady " DON't even think about it "

There are forms available for hounds. However, I will warn anyone wanting to do this that you will probably be disapointed. It's easy to mount a deer to look like a deer. But it's impossible to mount a pet and capture his 'look'. Most taxidermist will not mount pets just for this reason.

We lost our housedog at 19 years old and our old male foxhound last year. My seven year old's two favorite companions. We had enough trouble burying them He was almost inconsolable. What a helpless feeling. We did work through both with him and they served as a foundation for the bridge that will come for the inevitable human losses he will face as his life unfolds. Kids are more resilient than thier parents for sure. I imagine telling him we'd mount old Jake to keep in the house would have helped him initially but be a pretty confusing life lesson as a whole as we moved forward. Keystonepaul

I have to disagree. "Impossible" I think not! Most taxidermist don't do "PETS" because its outta the norm, but there is many that do - some specialize just in pets and they make a killing doing it. To capture his 'look' , you just need to find someone that knows what they are doing(a hound isn't any different than any other exotic animal). If you were to have a hound mounted, do some research and take it to a quality taxi and expect to be breaking out the wallet..

I always thought it would be really cool to have a lifesize mount of my favorite dog with its favorite prey locked in his jaws, but the wife isnt about to let me have a lifesize mount of a hound and a mustang in the living room! It would be cool though!!

At the moment I don't have a hound that I would stuff but I've thought about it if u have a trophy room full of mounts that ur hounds have gotten for u why not

Sorry, Cor, your dead wrong. Been in the taxidermy business for over 30 years now. There is only one form available for a hound right now and only two or three others for all dogs. If it was such a booming business, there would be thousands of forms available like other animals. It is almost impossible to capture the exact look of a domestic animal because the owners know the expressions and body posture that thier pet had. The sagging under the eyes and lips, the right ear set, etc. Yea, you can mount a dog to look like a dog, but it won't look like your dog.

I agree with Dean, to see Cabo or Deeds mounted, they would just look like brindle Plotts... you wouldn't get to see the inner Chuck Liddell in Cabos eyes or the evil devil that lived in Deeds.

Even with Socki, you wouldn't get to see his "Imma stoner" attitude lol.

Obviously its not the same market as wildlife, thats comparing apples to oranges. You know how many dam different forms you would need to come close to fitting all the different Snoodles out there. You should no you wouldn't be buying a form from the supplier. Not to be a dick, but if you been in the business for 30 years you should no theres a market for pet taxidermy. Maybe you haven't seen a taxidermist that was worth a crap, but theres many VERY talented ones out there that are more than caple of mounting a "hound".
