You don't have to have a kill tag to hunt during Michigans kill season. You can purchase a participation tag if you are not succesful in drawing a tag, you really don't have to even apply for a tag, you can get the participation permit no matter. It does cost the same as a kill tag though.

north carolina is as follows aug 15 - oct 13 pursuit, oct 18 - nov 22 kill season, dec 13 - jan 1 kill season, jan 2 to april 15 pursuit. private property year round. western region

reed, you are correct. I went back and checked it out. I was under the impression that you needed a kill tag to hunt in MI during the kill season. It doesn't make any sense to me how as a non-res, you can't train in MI during the training season but come kill season you can train.

Nolte, I agree it doesn't make any sense. If you could it sure would make it easier to plan the family vacation, and not have to take any kids out of school. When you do go you also have to let them know how many dogs you are taking and show proof of vacinations for those dogs. This doesn't cost any extra though.
