whats the best way to teach a dog to strike?
Re: whats the best way to teach a dog to strike?
i thot the post was about getting dogs to start rigging from the box. I always correct them when they come off it and either try to run the track or start it. Common sense will let you know when they have come along enough to start tapping them while still on top. I have seen guys ruin young natural prospects by working them to hard on top of the box to early. Some are easier than others. JMO Level 6 away!

My mistake. I completely agree that when starting out they need to be allowed to slip and rig deer or whatever, like I told a buddy on Facebook, it is easy to trash break them up there, but to throw them up and have them show natural desire and rig is not so easy. Especially at an age where they are not puppys and their habbits, good or bad, have been established and are pretty set in that dog.

WELL IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYBODY CAN MAKE RIG DOGS BUT HOW ABOUT FINDING THE TRACK WHEN THERE PUT ON THE GROUND I THINK THAT BREEDING HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT. IT HAS TO DO WITH WHATS BETWEEN THERE EARS \
I KIND OF BELIEVE THAT MOST HOUNDS NOSES ARE COMPARABLE BUT HOW THEY USE THEM IS WHAT IS BRED INTO THEM. \
JUST SOME THOUGHTS FROM SOMEONE THAT HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK.
