I hear ya Hunter. I don't disagree at all. Just hope it does not back fire on us. Like they say well you guys use hounds in the Chase only season so we want to be.sure bear and lion get a break from dogs and wammo now they cut the real hunting with dogs season in half or some crap like that. They have been known to bait us into hurting our self. I know what you mean about the trucks with boxes all over the hills. I am one of them Haha. I know your plott hounds put up some bears every year. My little brother had a couple of them for a little bit. You sold him hook and chief. And I think his other friend is using hook on lions now. Any ways like I said not against it just weary of new things.

I know exactly what your saying. But we have to realize they are going to do this regardless we just have the chance to tweak it and try to adjust what they are going to do to our wants. Its like the old saying keep your friends close and enemy's closer man if ya know what i mean. And to say that im not saying game and fish are our enemy's, but need to let them know we are a group willing to do whats best for our sport. And yea those plotts put a few bears up trees and not half bad on the lions but that's a whole new subject for a different day but was just wanting everyone to know we might as well put our input in cause that fall pursuit will happen and while its going to present some callanges as far new rules, laws, and regulations and we will all have to watch our every move to follow em but hell seems we are already doing that anyway, and not saying i trust our local G&F but for that matter i don't trust anyone

Hey guys I tend to side with Couesaz on this one. I hate to be negative about anything like this but I've ran dogs in AZ for 15 yrs now and helped the G&F alot with different things involving using dogs and problems and things. I hope it's what they say it is. But I too would really look into it and read all the fine print. Just my opinion. Thanks

Fine print don't mean a thing to G&F anyone who has ever had a run in with knows that. Game and fish will do what they want reguardless of what the hunters want. I have personally talked to the warden ram roding this issue looks like it will fly it will start with a pilot unit or two all i am saying is if its gonna go thru we might as well try and tweak it best we can and odds are they will do what they want anyway but what the hell worth a shot in my opinion. And u r right as far as new rules a small example what if u r in pursuit area and have a mean bear tearin up a dog and u kill it? Well guess what u just poached and bye bye hunting privileges but and i quote the warden "that's risk u as a houndsmen will have to be willing to take". Like i heard in church when i was young where much is given much is requried so although we will have" fine print" we will get to run these dogs more but everyone is entitled an opinion that's what makes America! So if ya don't want to follow the fine print when this happens its pretty simple only hunt the units u can kill bears. Simple as that

This survey has one purpose, to gauge the hunting public's opinion of possible changes/ideas. If the pursuit season gets a show of support, we might actually gain a catch and release season on top of what we already have. If the idea of us chasing bears more than we already do pisses people off and they voice that in the survey then they will likely drop the idea of a pursuit season.
The reason the pursuit season has been brought up by AZGFD is because some of us have been pushing for it, not because they are looking for new way to trick us or screw us. We finaly got their attention at AZGFD and they are considering what we have to say.
Despite whatever fine print people are worried about, the main point is the same:
PURSUIT SEASON = MORE BEAR HUNTING

i was reading the newspaper for the white mountains and the fire they say is pushing bears into the cities and causing problems. they had a pic of a bear eating someones chickens and it had left before the police could get there to shoot it with bean bags and their shotguns. i would think a pursuit season would also help keep them away from homes. because i think they will keep coming back even after the fire cuz the discover that a chicken caged up is easier then trying to get something that isnt in a cage. the pursuit season i think would help out by keeping these bears on their toes about dogs and what happens when they hear a pack of hounds hot on their tail or when they enter a home or neighborhood where there are dogs barking. by us chasing them and putting them up trees or where ever it is they decide to tree or bay up i think it would help keep them leery about what happens when they hear hounds or dogs barking. just my opinion
