Hey I thought we had answered your question and if you wanted more in depth answers you would get a CA regulations handbook. I don't think too many people (out of state) ask about hunting in Idaho because that state has restricitons on out of state hunters...

Liz ODell wrote:Hey, no you can't say you are running pigs/coyotes etc. if you are in the Dog Control zone because you can not run dogs in the Dog Control zone when it is closed...on anything...period. The entire county here (Plumas) is in the Dog Control zone. Some of the area on the coast range that you are talking about is open all year but you still are not allowed to run bear in California unless it is during the bear season or you are helping on a Depredation hunt. You can order game regs from CADFG or have someone send you some, they have maps of what is and is not in the Dog Control zone, several more areas have been closed in recent years, some of the coast range and Lassen county are now off limits during Dog Control.
ya just proved my point Mzz Liz and hunters have been doen this for yrs an yrs . don`t get caught carryen a gun with hounds up thre but it`s been how the world works an no bear was anything but run and treed up ! I done it wit a good part of the san joaquine houndsmen club each summer and talked to usf staff and we put them in the loop/ Your about 12 yrs-15 yrs behind MzzLizz ! The key here was call stoneyford and confirm first befor ya go and have your ducks in a row! I don`t much have any use for dfg but I do go by the rrules an they gave us that spot too train young dog befor kill season . Shorty Marten,Ronnie Monroe, myself and others sujested it too em and it was good and we didn`t abuse it/don`t know about today in time too many of us packed-up and left Ca rather than too end-up in jail for life over them pinhead dfg guys in Ca.
nuff said about it anyways they can close the whole dang woods down it just make a lot better hunten for a few who wasent stuck on stupid ?!

Cecil, like I said in response to the PM you sent me, you got your wires crossed. I wasn't even answering you, yes we have 'summertime' training in some parts of CA, but BY THE LAW we do not have a training season for bears other than bear season itself. I wasn't being onrey, just trying to keep people from getting tickets that they probably don't want. I think the best advice for anyone is just to get a regulations book and learn the rules yourself.

Exactly! I didn't say don't come here because you are from out of state I said you CAN'T come here and I didn't make up that rule. The question was NOT about coming to field trials, making friends or attending club meetings/activities the question was; can you run bears during the summer (out of season) on bear in California and the answer is still NO,(and in Plumas County you cannot run them on anything from the first Saturday in April through the opening of whatever deer zone falls in the area you want to hunt, you cannot have someone explain to you where the dog control zone is in CA...unless you want to get caught in the wrong spot, get the maps from DFG).
I never told anyone they were not invited, if you want to buy your out of state tag and license and hunt by our rules here then more power to you, I believe we are one of the few states that do not restrict out of state hunters and it would be nice if people act respectful of that when they are hunting here. I will always suggest that the best way to learn about another state is to contact the Fish and Game office in that state...after all they are the ones that hand out the tickets if you don't play by the rules...whether you like it or not. I was not being rude (if I was then so were the majority of the rest of the folks who answered) and therefore have nothing to apologize for...if anyone took it the wrong way, well guess my people skills are not the best but I'll always tell you the truth.
In trying to read (and make sense of) the nasty gram PM's that Cecil J. sent me over this about the best I can decipher is that he's upset cause I'm a woman...well I can't argue with genius it is indeed a fact that I'm female. If you dig through the glove box on my Toyota you are liable to find 44 mag bullets, Red Man, extra magnets and...tampons.
Whew, I hope the snow melts pretty soon so I can get in the woods instead of hanging out here before I end up in 'the cage'  P.S. don't PM me, like I said I'm my own person and don't care if people like me or not...
