Snake Problems
Re: Snake Problems
my ex wife was bit on the foot by a copperhead, the doctors said the snake was 4 to 6 foot long. the doctors told her that if it was a smaller snake it could have been more dangerous because they said that a smaller snake release all their venom and a bigger snakes dont always shoot all the venom into the victim, its according how threaten they feel as to how much posion they inject. iam glad your daughter is allright now

Thanks Skeets. I appreciate that. She only carries a scare on her leg where the doctors lanced her leg but she is fine. You would think after being bitten by a rattle snake that you would be terrified of one after that, but to this day I still have to tell her to get a flashlight at night when she goes outside. She doesn't have a fear for them at all.
Thank you too, Gary. You spoke of the 13 inch snake as being a few hours old, I don't really know. But I do know that fall, after Rebecca got bit, I killed a bunch of small rattlers here around the house. The smallest I killed was 5 to 6 inches long. I have never seen any that small before or since.
As for the show, you might want to wait for a weather change down here first. Awful dry, as you well know. Could make for awful boring show. If and when we do go, we'll definitely get Shorty to go us. Shorty and J Martin are used to that camera. I'm a little on the camera shy side.
Tell the family we said howdy. We'll be hollaring back at ya soon. Robbie

Rob,
I agree. There is no way you are going to get me to Hebbronville in Aug. unless there is a snow on the ground!
Adios,
Gary

Re: Snake Problems
First off, i am glad those that were bitten are fine, sorry for the guys who have lost dogs to those fanged freaks. I am fortunate as i don't have any first hand info or know anyone who does with rattle snake bites hope i never do. I have always heard the smaller the snake the more dangerous, reason being they don't know how much venom to release, often releasing to much, sounds reasonable. I have killed 2 in the same day several times. I have never killed or seen any over 4 ft and none under 2ft.
Gary, how many buttons does a snake of that size tend to have ? Or what is the most you have seen or counted on one? Or even know of ? Just curious. 11 buttons is the most i have found on a snake that snake had a really big girth to it though..
Take care all, Good hunting and watch out for the fanged freaks!! DC.
