BIG difference in BAYIN and FINDIN. Findin a wild free roamin hog at 6 month is pretty impressive. Whoever throws an 8 week old puppy in pen with a 100lb hog is either tryin to sell dogs or prove something to himself. I hope i don't ever get so hard up i got to start pups that early so i can hunt. I think i'll start huntin a 60 day bred gyp so the pups would know what a hog smelled like when they were born.

amen alvin, i got a catahoula thats alittle over a year old thats just on the edge of finding his own hogs. thats about as good as you can ask for here in the mountains, if theres a 6 month old finding and catching HIS OWN hogs better not get too attached cause that bad boys gonna get wrecked. But it takes alot of time to get a dog that you can drop just about anywhere and come up with one. Best words of advice i ever got from a great dog man.... they dont learn anything in the yard and they aint finished till they are dead lol. keep us posted on him and post some pics.

Hi again guys, have not been on in a while! Haha well he is now 8 months old and yes he has been finding his own hogs since about the second time I took him hunting. He is 8 months old now and he is doing excellent. I estimate by a year to 10 months he will be finished out. He trails well, he bays great, and getting catchier every hunt, he drinks anything thats 100 or less. He will catch when another gritty dog gets there. Very well put together dog.

Jim is a good guy, with some good dogs - if a pup went in that hog pen at 8 weeks, it went in there on its own. There has been one other one that I heard do that same thing, he was a little super star.
Catcher - my pup that I got from Jim just turned 8 months old - she found her first hog by herself last week :0), was ranging out over 1,000 yards by the time she was 6 months old - really impressive little gyp
