Rattlesnakes and the mexican cartel growing pot plants with booby traps laced throughout the forest. Always makes for an interesting hunt when you are the hunted

Windfalls spanning steep draws 20-30 feet above the ground. Cats love to walk/run on them and when they get to the rootwad they just jump up over them. Sometimes the dogs can to but if they can't they have to get turned around. The more the merrier ha ha. I have never had dog hurt or killed this way but have seen em fall before and it's always in the back of my mind

Wolves and P-Pines here in the Clearwater country in Idaho.
I stay down in the river drainage's and just hunt Bobcat, but the guys that run Bear and Lion up in the high country sure take a big chance with the Wolves.
I'm to old to be chasing anything up in the timber anyways, but it's a real conundrum for allot of guys I know. Some have gone so far as to just quit the hounds all together while others go out of state.
Anyone else ever notice that every thing the Gubment touches turns to shit?

Yep!!! AMEN! The biggest problem we had is snakes and a few places that had alot of palmetto, you really found alot of wasp. A few gators. Had a nut hunting with me one night that kept smelling Bigfoot! We did not hunt much togeather after that.

Besides the rattlesnakes and the cactus and thick brush and bluffs and ledges and freezing temps in the morning and burning up in the afternoon.. I think loose rocks have to be one of the worse things or most dangerous.. either a dog breaking one loose or having one give way...

You are right there Brett!! I remember a time when dogs were trailing over me and I was sitting on my mule and a loose rock about double the size of a foot ball almost got me. Dogs were about 20 feet above me on the edge and dislodged it.
