Guys & Gals,
We can't even be united among hound hunters. It sounds great and I agree, but it's not going to happen. It doesn't hurt to ask, but I wouldn't shut out other hunters because they don't jump to our aid. Our archery groups in WI can't stand hounders unless they need us to fill them a leftover baitsitter bow bear tag or cat. Heck they can't even get along with the rifle hunting groups or the guys who want to use a crossbow. The only time we will be able to band together as a unified group is if we are ALL in the crosshairs at once.
I have some friends who are gung-ho bird hunters. They load up their trucks with a bunch of upland dogs and pound brush trying to bag a vest full of brush chickens (grouse). My eyes glaze over and nearly close when they start talking dogs. Likewise, they look at me like I'm a total dumbass when I mention my truck full of barking dogs, wading through swamps and brush to see a bear in a tree. I wouldn't expect them to jump in the fray to rally and support my sport and I probably wouldn't do it for them even though I fully support what they like to do.
My point is don't get worked up when other hunting groups aren't jumping to the front of the line to help us out. Having an attitude of "maybe next time" has a better chance of help than "screw them" those selfish SOBs.

i feel bad for you guys that you lost your rights but it really sounded to me like your hound association or club got caught with their pants down. i know there were a lot of people putting a lot effort in to stopping this but it's not going to help anything to come on a public chat forum and bash some guys that have made some money for not donating to your cause.

It's not that they didn't donate its the fact that they wouldn't help out fellow hunters

If your not from california your going to feel differently than if you are from california and just got kicked in the balls really hard. My freedom of the one thing i love to do was taken from me wrongfully. I hate really really hate and resent anyone personally or organization wise who didn't lift a finger or a pen to help me keep my hunting rights. WHEN IT HAPPENS TO YOU, AND IT WILL HAPPEN YOU MIGHT HAVE A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE.

If you read the above post you will see where I stated its not about the money. So let me say again its the point that they were not even willing to find out what they could do!! Calling writing faxing etc... We have enough money just no one knows where it went lol

Nolte,
The only time we will be able to band together as a unified group is if we are ALL in the crosshairs at once.
You and everyone else need to realize that this will not happen. The anti-hunters are much too aware of how powerful the hunting community would be if we were a single unified body, so that is why they incrementally attack hunting one group or one method at a time. We don't have the luxury of hoping they attack us all at the same time, so we need to collectively have the intelligence to recognize the battle for what it is and rally together.
It seems that I have better birdhunting friends than you do. They have written letters, made phone calls, submitted donations, and appeared at the Capitol on my behalf just as I have acted on their behalf when their type of hunting was threatened. You see, not only do we recognize the principle in doing so, but we recognize that it is in all of our strategic best interest to do so.
My point is don't get worked up when other hunting groups aren't jumping to the front of the line to help us out. Having an attitude of "maybe next time" has a better chance of help than "screw them" those selfish SOBs.
Again, this is an unprincipled view...individuals and groups must decide for themselves what is important to them, and then act upon their decisions. Organizations like Ducks Unlimited and individuals like the duck guys have decided to not to support their fellow hunters. There is
nothing wrong with us responding in kind. People need to realize that there are consequences for their actions and decisions.

blackpaws,
i feel bad for you guys that you lost your rights but it really sounded to me like your hound association or club got caught with their pants down.
I'm curious to know what led you to think this.
i know there were a lot of people putting a lot effort in to stopping this but it's not going to help anything to come on a public chat forum and bash some guys that have made some money for not donating to your cause.
This is a simplistic and inaccurate characterization of why there is concern. It has NOTHING to do with the fact that a group of people have enjoyed financial success and EVERYTHING to do with their stated decision to not help out a group of fellow hunters merely because those hunters don't happen to enjoy the same kind of hunting that they do. This is selfishness and ignorance at its worst and it will be the downfall of all of us.

Actually, neither the money nor its location or disposition is in question.

Wow really every are you all the stupid! First of all I agree they have nothing to do with hounds. Ducks and hounds are nothing alike. Second if they help you out then they have to help out every tom, dick, and harry that ask them for help or money. Its better to be neutral and not help at all then go under because you have helped everyone that has asked.

Tankchick89 your a fool . It's ideas like that that make it so easy for hunters to lose there rights. all for one and one for all . We only have power in numbers if we don't stand together than we are all screwed even the duck hunters it's coming you just wait.
