Just personal opinion. Don't mess with domestic cats you can't control it. I would do a handful of drags with a piece of cougar hide. Do the first one when dog is young three months. Make sure u do the drags where there is a ton of game drag it across a couple good game trails give them all the the opportunity to trash. If they trash your dog isn't gamey it's a canner shoot it. After you've made a handful of drags and dogs grown and mature mentally and physically. Get it out on a cougar be picky and find a good Tom. It is crucial to dump your first couple cats for a pup. This will really help with the treeing and staying at the tree. Drags are the way to go because you control everything. Make it as real as you can shoot a shot off and let your piece of hide fall out of the tree let the dogs chew it for a bit calm them down and turn the dogs off before u leave.
