I'm not a yote hunter and this is just second hand opinion from hanging around with some but...
A potential cat hound is worth a lot more than a potential yote hound. Don't waste a hound with talent on cats chasing yotes. If you don't want to hunt cats, sell him to someone whon does and get yourself a yote hound.
A hound bred to be a tree hound is fine for hunting yotes in snow, where the coyote is breaking ground, but its going to be pretty tired by the time it bays up a yote on bare ground. Do yourself a favor and put him in with some other hounds so he has some help at the bayup.
As admirable as the sentiment is about eating what you shoot, not many people that have sampled yote eat them regularly except out of desperation.
