I have been published in Full Cry over half a dozen times and I do agree that their coverage is skewed. Out of all the CA clubs I only see CHC contributing. In the coming year I am going to try to make the water races and field trials and cover them for Full Cry so you can see you and your dog's name in a national publication. It is too bad Ultimate Predator went under. If I had 50k I would probably publish my own mag just covering big game hounds in the western states, hence "Western Houndsman" Try writing your own article for Full Cry. Write about your first hunt, write about last weekend's hunt, interview an oldtimer. If you can bitch and moan in this forum you can write a damn story for Full Cry. Full Cry is a valuable resource when it comes to hunting issues in other states and on a national level. So keep the faith. If Full Cry goes then there will be nothing unless someone out there wants to help me start up "Western Houndsman" -Pete

I took it since the 80s and let mine expire a couple years ago for that very reason.

As a response to the men canceling their subscriptions it is still America for now so I respect your right to do that. I would respond to us as tree dog enthusiasts need to stick together no matter our own special interest in the breed we decide to run. We all have a love for hunting and need to stick together as the antis are gaining ground on removing our rights to hunt especially with out beloved dogs, no matter the breed. The magazines are an avenue to keep us together and unified for the information they provide. I hear the love for your particular breed but would also respond to that with the need for an open mind on the abilities of squirrel dog breeds. I have run Walkers, Blue Ticks, and Plotts on Lions and they each can do the job very well with a little different style. The last 10 years I switched to an Original Mountain Cur for my Lion hunting and enjoy this breed the best, personal preference! I discovered the breed in Full Cry magazine while running Walkers. If they did not have all available breeds in the magazine I may never have discovered my favorite here in Wyoming. If you have the Sept. issue look in the OMCBA section as they contacted me to do a little write up.
