So by open dog zone, do you mean it's open year round?

Yup but check the regs for that wildlife area they have different restrictions also if deer season is open they may have a one dog per hunter restriction.

Ok thanks for the info. Where would I find the regs for that area? What zone is the delta in?

Has anyone had run ins with fish and game on the delta? I've never been out there but I wanna try it out. I just want to make sure I'm in an area I can legally run my dogs. I plan on taking a boat up with me

With the exception of some Wildlife areas that usually only allow waterfowl hunting almost all of the land is privately owned. As such, it is subject to trespass laws and hunters need written permission to hunt it.

Is it hard to tell the difference between the private and public land? As far as is there more private than public?

This will give you a list of the Wildlife areas:
https://www.dfg.ca.gov/lands/wa/region3/Unless there are some small isolated parcels of state, county, or city land, (which will undoubtedly be off limits to hunting) You can figure on the rest being privately owned.

Thank you to everyone for the helpful information. Hopefully I can find some spots that are public and maybe have a little luck.

I keep hearing that the islands out there are the hot spots. Are the islands concidered private or public land? I've got two hounds and would love to go with someone who knows the area or might have some spots to hunt. My dogs are not aggressive in any way.
Thank you to everyone with your shared information.

And be careful out there, especially if you're not hunting from a boat. Lots of deep water
