1bluedog,
They are mine now but I did not do much. I just kept whole litters and kept the best or what I thought was the best, of those litters and bred them to each other. I also have very good places to hunt bobcats so that is also helpful. Mr. Cameron bred my current hounds and taught me just about everything I know about blueticks and how to breed them. When I ran into problems or had questions he would always help me and many times showed me things I did not notice. History will show him to be the greatest breeder of biggame blueticks.
I went through 45 or more blueticks from other breeders, in ten years but for various reason, they were not breeding material, some were good hounds, but if I could not use them for breeding they were no use for me.

Re: Blueticks for Bobcats
JTG, I think its safe to say Del was way ahead of his time in his breeding practices.I saw a 7 gen.pedigree on one of his dogs.It was a Cameron hound! The male i have now is one quarter Cameron.

You know guys you hear so many good and not so good things about the camerons that it's really makes you want to step back. I mean if you get a good one then great but there are so many out their who got a dog or dogs from Del and now are producing what they call Cameron dogs. And I have read on more than one site that Cameron dogs can be a bit growly around the tree or even else where. Now I always figured that to be a good bear dog line that toughness would be part of it but not to that point.

If you thing about it, any real good breeder does not have to use someone else name to promote their hounds. You are correct in that good bear hounds or in my way of thinking any hounds needs grit. If a pack of hounds bays a cat on the ground and booger barks and the cat fights them off, that cat's deserves to live. The only way my hounds get fur in their mouths is that way, and they learn to run to catch.
As far as fighting at the tree, I have not seen it and if I did it would be the last time. I have had two brothers fight on the way to the Texas and Mexico border inside a stock trailer but it was my fault for letting them get away with as pups. They hunted all week with hounds from two other hunters that had a trailer load of hounds and they all got along just fine.
One of my males got cut up from a young lion and he would lift his paw so I could doctor him up.

Re: Blueticks for Bobcats
I think a lot of guys could take 2 top dogs out of a good line and literally ruin it in 2 generations. Then you have a select few who could take the same dogs and maintain and perhaps improve them .Also i have yet to see a good line that didn't produce a cull or two.I don't claim to be a breeder but i have produced a few top cat dogs but the majority are average to below average .I strive for dogs that do it all.
