A couple days off to recover from a cold, I took the boys for a should be a short hunt. A few miles down the road we had a decent strike. I dumped all 7 which included my 3, 11 month old males. Everything went as planned for the first mile of trailing and then the pack split in to two and then Rudy headed south on his own. Now the front runners couldn't have gone to a worst spot, the only other hound guy in 100 miles ranch "he has threatened to kill all my dogs" I was able to stop Oscar but Jack was bayed up quite close to his house. I guess he wasn't home?

I was able to round up the second crew as they were headed to the same ranch just taking the long way. Now to see what old Rudy was treed on a few miles to the south. I turned the dogs loose where Rudy crossed the road to meet him at the tree.
A nice color phase up a huge fir always makes a good picture.




During the mile walk out I lost track of Rudy, Bon and Spider when they went to the creek for a drink, Garmin says "i should have been paying attention" as the had went back to chase the bear again.
With the two pups in the lead and Rudy taking up the rear they had that bear tree another 2 miles a way. So much for for a quick hunt.

Is rudy the leopard cross. Why does this rancher threaten to kill all your dogs, he doesn't like you on his property or the competition with his dogs.

Rudy is my Black and tan. This so called hound guy has mental issues to say the least. He spends his time talking trash behind my back and threatening my dogs.I hunted with him for a few year when i first moved up here but soon realized he was sick in the head and quit hunting with him to protect me and my family. You never know when a mentally ill person flips a switch.

Yes a mentally ill person can be scary. Hopefully you have told the proper people about the threats he has made.
I thought Rudy was a black and tan but never see him in any of the pics so thought maybe you called the leopard the same.

I tend to take a lot more of the up and comers at the tree. Rudy has been on over 300 trees but I still take a few of him every so often.

Nice work there! Those hounds are a credit to you.

It would be nice to hear how you find working different strains together? Do your dogs bring different qualities to the table?
Just for the crack mate, as I do the very same, I run hounds, curs and lurchers... and I have terriers for earth work.
