Just went to samsclub yesterday, the purina dog chow when up from 18 something to 21 or 22 something, but its a 55lb bag so i consider it a good deal as we are feeding our 4 and a buddies 4 and it lasts about 3 weeks, also at wallmart ist 17.15 i think for a 44lb bag of the same thing.

If Any of you Wisconsin, or eastern Minnesota, houndsmen are interested, I sell a 50 pound bag of 26-18 Canine Rebel for $18.00 a bag. I can do a little better by the ton, "40 bags"

The prices are going up thats life, but if you get a few people together and buy in bulk you can save 4 or 5 dollars a bag. Thats the only way we can afford to get our dog food. We get 5 tons at a time for 8 people and it lasts for 2 months. It does make a differance. I know this would not help a person with a few dogs but we have 65 and it is a great savings.

8 weeks ago before I went to Ireland I bought a 50 pound bag of Diamond Sporting Dog for $18.00. I came back from Ireland last week and went to buy another bag and it was $26.00 Good thing I am only feeding one dog now as that is outrageous!!!

On the other hand we here in America cannot really complain too much or shouldn't cause we are not the only ones that are feeling the effects of high prices and bad economy. While I was in Ireland I noticed that food prices there were double what we pay here. The Euro was trading at 1.59 over the U.S. dollar. Gas was 1.29 Euros a liter and that is equivalent to over $7.00 a gallon! Grapes were 4.00 Euro a pint that is equal to over $6.30 a pint. Thos are just a few things I noticed amoung many others. So we complain about the economy here, but really we do not have it as bad as other places. I am happy to be back home in Wyoming and appreciate just how good we have it.

There's an alternative...some of the older folks on here may still have some of the feed formulas we used. It was just a matter of going to the local feed mill and getting it mixed & bagged. The only draw back was it was dry feed and not pelletized. If you live within reach of a pelletizing mill you could get the homemade feed pelletized. Used to be Vet Vax sold a five pound bag of vitamin & mineral supplements to be added to the feed mill formula.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I get a lot of enjoyment out of side-stepping these rip-off artists. Especially since corn prices...last I knew dropped from $7.00 a bushel to about $5.50...and fuel price dropped enough that the current increases are not warranted.

does anyone think the dog food prices have much to do with the fact that they shut down every horse slaughter house in the us

The horse slaughter might have something to do with it. I think the biggest factor is fuel prices. The shipping of product in and out cost two to three times as much as it used to. I at one time owned a custom meat packing house with my two brothers. Even though the horse slaughter was shut down it was still legal to kill horses in the US for zoos. I know this because we put in a bid to get the contract for the san diego zoo. Your only allowed to kill the amount of horses that the contract says. I don't rember what that number was but it wasn't enouogh.

I think we should turn every unwanted horse loose on the peoples lawns that made these same laws. Let them feed these animals and see how long it takes them to go bankrupt. Damn tree huggers think they care more about the land and environment then we (the hunters) do. Gets to me every time, Sorry!

I am feeding Diamond now and it is 16.99 a 50 lb bag. I was feeding Black Gold but when it went up from 18.50 a bag to 24.50 I switched. I dont notice any difference between the two but my wallet does

I feed Diamond high energy. Ive noticed its gone up from arond 18 to 22 dollars here in Oregon.

I used to feed diamond hi-energy about 6 months ago it was $22 for 50 lbs. now it is $31. So I am looking for and new place to buy it or another brand to buy. I am not paying 31 dollars a bag. Anyone from Ut know of a good place to buy dog food.
