I didn't mean to side track this post, I guess I misunderstood the original post. I thought the problem was the dog was sight trailing and not actually smelling the track, my apologies. My idea of a solution was on trying to give ideas on how to get the dog to smell the track hole to hole or keep his nose we in the trough. With further clarification on how the dog actually ran the track, I think the dog just needs to be continually tried on bobcat tracks, he will get it figured out.
I am currently running a 3 year old dog for a friend, that is directly related to my hounds that do excellent on cats, this dog has been run strictly on bears till now. Knowing this line of dogs I figured she would get right into the groove. I have found this not to be the case on the several tracks I had her on, she is completely clueless on running cats. She is a smart dog and will get it figured out but it has been an eye opener for me on how different opportunities affect dogs.
