Hard to beat that one Farmhand. I carried a takedown 250 with a K-3 Weaver on it in my saddle scabbard for a long time. I killed some really big old bodied mule deer and whitetail up north with it and it was like greased lightning when the action was fast and furious. It also reached out there with a good 100 gr. handload and did the job and reasonably long range if needed. I bumped off a big buck at just under 400 yard with it in a hayfield along the North Platte in Nebraska one morning and he fell over just like he had been whacked with a 270 so it woks good, easy on the shooter and it makes hitting a lot easier if you don't close your eyes and flinch when you pull the trigger. I wish I still had mine but a their thought he needed it worse than me. He did make me a bleiever in gun safes.

Yeah, I bought that one about 20 yrs. ago for reasonable, but I guess they got kind of spendy since then. Maybe a guy could pick one up at a gun show without getting hurt too bad, though, but you have to be in the right place at the right time. My nephew will probably carry it here in a few years. He talks about it alot but he's only 5 so we have a little while yet, although in Pa. now we have the Mentored Youth Program so I don't have to wait till he's 12. He goes out and sits with me already, but when he gets bored we leave so it doesn't turn into a bad experience for him.

We can only hope the boy is "ruined" for life!! Now if you can get him to be a voter we all win! Good luck!

Terry,

"what a jaw on a dog"...............that sounds like the king of bluegrass, Jimmy Martins old saying. As he was an avid hound man until he died a couple years ago. Is that where you heard that saying or is that common in Texas?
