I agree with longshot on the sluggun, but with one word of caution. Some of the slugs are to soft and will deform to much on impact and will not give you the penetration you need.

I had a hunter one time carrying a 12 ga slug gun using 3in mag slugs and he couldn't penetrate the shield on a big hog with 4 tries. We found them all less than halfway through the shield mashed out to about 2 inches in diameter. This is not to criticize the choice of guns, it was the projectile that was inadequite. I have seen 2 3/4 in 12 ga slugs had of harder lead alloy that would give you a pass through on a hog of any size.

The 12 ga is a good choice, just make sure that you are using ammo that has a hard enough slug to get some penetration.

What do ya'll know about this breed?
http://www.sanderskennels.com/PresaMales.htm
Some things I have read have said they are excellent catch dogs, and since I have a "rare" opportunitie to buy one i thought i'd ask you folks. He'd also end up being trained as a guard dog as well as hogs, so just incase i dont get heavily into hog he has other purposes.

I have never owned one but heard they are a BEAST!!

I have also heard they will be quick to kill anything. A hog, your best strike dog or what ever else suits their fancy.

A Lady wanted me to train one to catch for her but said it couldnt be around other dogs because it would kill them. I told her to keep it!

They may not all be this way but I would be leary going into a deal with them.

THey are normally very $$$$. I never figured the cost was worth the risk.

they aren't any more dog aggressive than pits. the scariest catchdog i've ever seen was a presa named Oso. you might be able to get video of him from Jay Dorsey. the dog hit hogs so hard it made me wince to see it. but very few are worked at anything & most that are worked are used for man work. when Oso passed on Matt got another presa & it was a dud as a catchdog. so it's a gamble.

well this lady over in my parts I assume breeds them since she mentioned she had a litter, well aparently she sold all but one pup, who is 8mo right now and weighs in at 80lbs, impressive considering his father is a supposed 140lbs, but my blue was 90lbs at 7mo soo...genetics i believe.
Anyway shes asking $250, im assuming without papers, and intact. The papers dont concern me that much since he wont be shown, I will have to see the dog in person and have him meet my boys, since if he does show aggression towards them other than what is to be expected, I woulnt risk my current pack with just one large loose cannon.
