ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?
You and others like you are a danger to our way of life, and I wish you would promote your pro-wolf crap somewhere else. You jumped in this thread and made it plain you're a wolf lover. You know nothing about the native wolves we had, a hell of a lot less than the ones we have now!
SPRAY THE WEEDS TO HAVE MORE ELK TO FEED TO THE WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!
You are a dangerous individual, and all we can hope is you are never in charge of more than rodents, because guys like you have already wiped out our Elk. By the way, what are you going to introduce to replace them? Go away and stay away, and if you're smart, don't let your real name get out.

Maybe you should tell me somthing about the native wolves we had. They were a slightly smaller sub species, they ate elk, deer, moose, bison...you name it. the wolves we're seeing in Pend Oreille County WA are the natove animals moving in from BC. I guess they ate all the elk there and had to leave
I would also like to make it clear that I'm not pro wolf, (actually not at all- i would rather we weren't in this situation) but they're going to be a way of life for quite a while, so why not try to be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem. The "save our elk" redneck propaganda BS will do more harm for our "cause" than it will do good. Well thought out

s for sound managment might actually help, and information that's based on facts will certianly help.
I'm not sure what to make of your last comment in caps...you must think that habitat managment (ie spraying weeds) won't help the elk? It will, and more elk doesn't necessarily equal more wolves; because of range requirements. So yes, spray your weeds and we can have more elk, and continue elk hunting- even with a wolf presence.
HTF is that dangerous?

I have never asked to get into the cage, but here goes, BUDDY PLEASE ALLOW ME ACCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!
WA"TRANSPLANT"COYOTE HUNTER----------I have run these woods longer than you have looked at pictures of them, unless all your past posts are lies, you're a flatlander from the prarie. But you, like other city folks think you can come to the Rockies and decide what's best for us. We never won the west so you could come here and act like a cowboy. There are enough good people around here from where you came from, and they moved to get away from you. You are a dumbass in the 1st degree, a wanna be biologist that works for utility companies rathen than any Federal, State, or private interest that does work to improve our wildlife, or way of life. Shut up while you're behind.
Look up and read "WAcoyotehunters" previous posts, according to him, he's brand new to the mountains, but already knows it all, and is entitled to call us "REDNECKS" ...................................sound familiar guys????????????????????
Spray some weeds? !!!!!!!!!!!!! what an A-Hole!
By the way--the wolves you have in Pend Orielle county, did not come from Canada, they came from the Hoodoos, and out of the Priest Drainage country.......Biologist, HUH!

I'm not exactly sure when i called anyone a redneck. The SaveOur Elk site is a bunch of rednect propaganda, that's what i think, and that's what anyone that can look at this

from both sides thinks.
Let's be clear on one thing- I didn't make any personal attacks on you. I don't know what you do for a living and if I did, I wouldn't make fun of it. I'm a professional wildlife biologist, I manage wildlife and habitat , I work with the State, FS, tribes, and USFWS every day. Before that I worked
for the FEDs along the Columbia river managing wildlife. I'm in the woods
EVERY SINGLE DAY, so I try to keep my finger on the pulse of the things happening here.
I'm not interested in pissing matches about my qualifications to make the claim that "better habitat=more wildlife" That's junior high biology- you don't need a degree to see that weeds, ATV's, erosion, mismanagment... all lead to less wildlife available to us and to (unfortunately, as it is) wolves.
The wolves we've been seeing in PO county have been here for a LONG time, since before the transplants occured. They're (with the exception of a few) from canada. WA has DNA evidence to back that up.
Now- before you get lathered up and continue calling me a dumbass or a transplant, why don't you produce one logical

or one solution to this problem? My propsoal is to enhance habitat and keep after the state and feds to adopt the proposed management plan.
I'm not going to come on here to call names or to belittle anyone. It's better if both of us would avoid the personal attacks.

wacoyotehunter is right about a few things. noxious weeds are extremly destructive. dont kno if yall got them in your contry, but knap weed is a damn plague that is a monopoly to try and control, leafy spurge is just as worse. sure it could boost the elk pop if they were sparyed, but if the only reason u want to do it is so the wolves can have more food, thats bs.
but, if the wolves were gone, u cant tell me you wouldnt see more elk. and if the wolves were gone, maybe our government could put all the money concerning studying/trying to control the wolves to somehting usefull. like protecting NATIVE plants and growth thats bein took over by noxious weeds. it just pisses me off to see knap weed flurishing on state ground and they arent doin shit to stop it. just dont make sence.
now that nobama is in office, my doubts are high that the wolves will ever be off the "endangered" special list

You're right about that- our range is getting pretty bad with weeds and the elk, deer, moose, are all dealing with them. It's sad, but I don't see a light at the end of the tunnel for wolf control either. I think the antis are just gaining steam with the new administration. But, who knows- maybe they'll revisit the original plan, meet the genitic mixing requirement and make another push for the hunting season. I hope they do.
I didn't mean to be unclear on my habitat:elk:wolves idea. I hunt elk all fall and I want to take an elk as bad as anyone! I just think that we're stuck with wolves. So, the more elk we can produce, the more we'll have available to both us and the wolves.
I worry quite a bit about losing my dogs. I hope I never find them dead on account of a pack of wolves, but what can you do? I watch for wolf tracks and avoid anyplace that might have them- we're lucky here and don't have that many yet.
Until the wolf hunting season is opened, the best thing (IMO) we can do is focus on the management options we might have some control of- poaching, weeds, season setting, ... keep writing letters and sending emails to the reps and the people in charge,
maybe they'll here us.
Back to the orignial idea behind the post- I'm not sure the "save our elk" website is the best method. What people need to see is a wolf shread a pomeranian in the suburbs.

Not exactly a pomeranian... These aren't all just Hunting dogs...
Notice one is still on his chain in his yard..
wolf_kill_dog.jpg
Unfortunately, the ANTI's win over the population with their Propaganda, It's time to show them the truth and images are the best way of doing that.. Science doesn't invoke action... and while where sitting here trying work with Bioligist to do things the right way, they are taking our crap away more effieciently by using City folks emotions against us..
So While I applaud, your ideas to use science and management.. ect. ect... Where sitting around playing Defense, while the Anti's are playing Offense....

http://www.fws.gov/mountain-prairie/spe ... 3_1_08.pdfhttp://www.fws.gov/mountain-prairie/spe ... 3-8-08.pdfHere are the 2007 annual reports from Idaho and MT. They list the # of wolves killed per year as well as the depredation. ID had 14 dogs confirmed killed by wolves...I'm sure many more unreported. ID reports a population around 730- it will be interesting to see what the 2008 report says.
Many wolves are killed by the feds- WY killed 233 in five years, their
estimated (WAG?) population was around 180 after the five year period.
