with the kind of long running involved w/ cats vests may cause overheating. the best option for protecting your dogs is going to be the spiked collars used on livestock guard dogs inother parts of the world. it won't keep them from being killed but it may slow the process or deter a solo wolf.

These are Kaukasian Herders and does not look like long distance runnes in my eyes, but they kill wolves!
A friend of mine went boar hunting in the eastern part of russia and he saw these dogs. They were kept behind a 7 foot fence all day and let loose at night. The hunters attending that hunt were adviced not to go outside under any circumstances while these dogs were out of their pens.... These dogs consider everything not familiar, a threat to what ever they are herding and they will do whatever it takes to protect.
It was an article in a Swedish huntingmagasine, where a moosehunter using spitzdogs, wanted to get one of these and use it as a bodyguard for his dogs while hunting in wolfareas.

- So a couple of these and a small, squecy, lightening fast decoy dog...

what if a guy had a bunch of dogs to hold the wolf just bay it till you could get in there with a bunch of catch dogs like specialy bred pits or somthing real agressive of course you would have to have about 10 but i think 10 well built pits could do some damage to a wolf if they would have to be real agressive and pretty much just over take the wolf now if ya got acouple wolfs guess you would just need more dogs lol maybe 20 ether ways it would be one heck of a battle to see

Kengals are the same dogs as the Kaukasian herders, Justjared.
There are two different coats: Long haired and "shorter" haired. Kengals are from what I gather almost only of the "shorter" hair kind.
They average 178" at the shoulder and 176-198 lbs.
Some of the bloodlines are purely bred for agression. They are tested at 8 months of age and nothing, but full charge is accepted.
These strains are used by the russian military. Some of them were kept at the Berlin wall during the Cold war and you probably know how many slipped through that wall...

178 inches divided by 12 inches per foot equals 14.8 feet. I'm sure they are big dogs, but somehow I'm doubting that they are really that big. If they are that tall and weigh less than 200 lbs, they must be really skinny.lol

One word of advice. Dont mess with the kaukasian!! Those are unpredictable dogs. Last year couple of those ate one champion spitz here. There were article about those guard dogs on our last kennel club magazine. Kaukasian dont need much when it's guardian mode switches on. Of course they can fight with wolves, but they aren't comming along with other dogs either. If you are willing to pay new faces or funeral costs for some childs parents so get one, but you can't let this dog loose anywhere because of it's primitive behavior.

ya makes sense just looked different maybe if wolves get into a pack get whats left and turn a herd of those dogs loose into the woods they sure look like they could do wolves damage but our wolves over here are bigger from over there so im told id like to see what would happen with a couple of those dogs and a real bad bear

Bulldogs will not match the killing power nor the talent of a good staghound. It sounds good on paper but in reality it aint the same thing.

bulldogs aren't supposed to kill. they are supposed catch & hold. as far as that goes i have only seen my shag on hogs. he held on like a bulldog but had no control. he just isn't built for it. when bulldogs do kill it is usually from the back breaking shake.
seriously if pure sighthounds were such devastating fighters there would be pit greyhounds instead of pit bulls although some whippetXbull & greyXbull did wind up in the pits and contributed to the pit breeds.

Pops, I know it is apples and oranges but obviously some do not. There is alot of theory passed around on this internet without ever having seen any of it first hand. Once again bro, I know the difference between apples and oranges but I dont think some do.
