I know what the law states in Ca. But, I along with a number of other guys, I know have used these collars for along time. Im not trying to be an outlaw by any means, but my lead dog is bad about getting out on a bad track and I can't find him, alot of the time. I bought one of these collars a couple months ago and it has already saved me alot of time and money. So like Iv'e said about packing guns in this state of low lifes, thugs, and gangs I would rather be caught with it then without it. Not because of finding the dog treed, but knowing when he is on a major road or hyway. Sorry for getting off track with this thread, but I am so tired of all the rules and regulations of this state I can't stand it. When and if I get a ticket, or fine , I am going to challenge the law for safty sake of my dogs. Thanks for putting up with me. Dean. W.

If your state does not have a statute stating this, you need to work on it.

Idaho Statutes
TITLE 25
ANIMALS
CHAPTER 28
DOGS
25-2807. DOGS AS PROPERTY -- PROOF OF VALUE. Dogs are property; and when
the value of any dog is material in any civil or criminal proceeding in this
state, the same may be established under the usual rules of evidence relating
to values of personal property. No entity of state or local government may by
ordinance or regulation prevent the owner of any dog from protecting it from
loss by the use of an electronic locating collar.
