Chaser,
I believe your insights are most astute. I feel you may have been around a H-H-HOLE OR TWO.That being said maybe we should meet some day and discuss this hole problem, or opportunity which ever it may be.
Keep em treed!

Here's a few from 2oo8 season put up in holes.

I WILL TAKE A CULVERT OVER A ROCK HOLE ANY DAY.

I know it's never a good feeling to put them into any type of hole rocks, trees, logs, rootwades or any other type always leads to staples.

I put one in a rock hole saturday. It took me about two hours hiking to get to them and I had a shooter along but he was still down at the truck, I figured it take him half again that long to get there and I didn't want to wait around that long, figured I could find an easier bear if I got out of their with the dogs before it got to late so I just gathered them up and came on. We didn't come up with another bear that day, but sunday I treed one that I was running up the road videoing it run parrellel to the road, and seen it climb a tree from the road. Of course I didn't have a shooter along that day because it would have been to easy of a pack.

I have seen them alot climb up a tree near a cliff then jump off tree on to cliff and up and out. Also have seen them jump up 10 ft rock and just sit there because dogs cant jump that high. Also from me hunting a few times this year with buds we have came up to alot of big boars who when the dogs go crazy on the bear just wallows along and is not even tempted by the dogs nipping at it.
